Dear residents, Good news on corruption I wanted to write to you with some good news in our work for a corruption-free NSW. Last year, I introduced a proposed law into Parliament to protect ordinary people who come forward when they suspect corruption at work or in their communities. As a result of this proposal, the government has now asked the Independent Commission Against Corruption Committee to open an inquiry to look into the matter. The important job of freeing NSW from corruption depends on brave people who are prepared to risk their jobs and livelihoods to take a stand. It's just common sense that they should receive proper legal protection. While I have been focused on strengthening our state ICAC in NSW, it's disappointing that both the Labor and Liberal parties recently voted against a Greens motion in the National Parliament to establish a federal ICAC. With two former NSW Labor ministers now behind bars and 11 Liberal Party MPs implicated in ICAC investigations, we need to redouble our efforts to strengthen corruption laws that hold crooked politicians and their mates accountable. Give Wentworth Park back to the City of Sydney to stop it being encroached ¨ upon by private property developers. Reverse the decision to privatise the Inner West bus routes and instead ¨ invest in better timetabling and more services. Strengthen the NSW ICAC and lend your support to the plan for a ¨ federal anti-corruption body. Start investing in light rail for Parramatta Road and the City as part of a wider ¨ commitment to public transport. Build a new ferry service from Glebe to the City. ¨ Cancel the sell-off of the Powerhouse Museum in Ultimo and instead give ¨ Western Sydney a dedicated museum that reflects its unique culture and history. Install shore to ship power at White Bay Cruise Terminal to protect both locals ¨ and residents of the wider Sydney area from toxic diesel fumes and noise.
