Cooley became the 19th coach in program history on Friday, Jan. 25, 2012. In his four seasons as head coach of the Statesmen, Cooley is 25-18 overall and 13-15 against the GSC. 5 The Statesmen got off to a quick start in 2016 before injuries began taking a toll on the team, ultimately leading to a 2-8* finish. Chris Robinson led NCAA DII in scoring at 14.4 points per game after scoring 24 touchdowns. DSU was second in the league in both scoring (36.9) and total offense at 449.4 yards per game. 5 With expectations riding high entering the 2015 season, the Statesmen raced out of the gate to a 4-0 record and No. 5 national ranking. Unfortunately, the ride would be short-lived, as injuries SL SL SL SL began to mount and derailed a title run for DSU. Wide Receivers Safeties/Recruiting Safeties Offensive Line 5  In 2014, Cooley led the Statesmen to their seventh GSC title and eighth appearance in the NCAA Guilford (2011) Okla. Panhandle (2014) Rhode Island (2016) Delta State (2016) Division II Football Championship Playoff. For his efforts, Cooley was named GSC co-Coach of the Fourth Year First Year First Year Third Year Year for a second time. 5 Statesmen head coach Todd Cooley tied former Steve Campbell for the second fastest coach to accumulate 20 victories, accomplishing the feat in 25 games. Cooley led DSU to a 7-3 mark in 2013 during his first season and followed up that performance with a 9-2 record in 2014 and a share of the GSC title. The Nashville, Arkansas, native started out the season 4-0 to get his 20th win in a 40-0 victory over Albany State at Parker Field-McCool Stadium (Sept. 26, 2015). 5 In his first campaign as head coach, Cooley guided the Statesmen to a 7-3 overall record and a second place finish in the Gulf South Conference. Inheriting a team that went 3-7 the year before, SL SL PB SL the high-energy Cooley built a cohesive family atmosphere in less than nine months. The Statesmen pulled off three victories over nationally ranked opponents after defeating No. 21 North Alabama 37-34, No. 14 Tarleton State 38-36 and No. 24 Valdosta State 63-55. 5 Known as one of the top offensive coordinators in the country, Cooley brought his high-octane THE COOLEY FILE system to Delta State after serving as the offensive coordinator at Northwestern Louisiana (2009- Career Record (4th season): 24-18 (.650) 2012), Central Arkansas (2005-2008) and Arkansas Tech (2004). 5 In three years running the NSU offense, Cooley’s established the Demons as one of the top units in the Southland Conference. The 2012 season saw Brad Henderson finish the season ranked seventh in the SLC with 181-of-330 passes completed for 1,874 yards with 14 touchdowns and only four interceptions. Parker Field at Horace L. McCool Stadium has served as 1987 3 2 0 the home of the Statesmen since it opened in 1970. Delta State has enjoyed tremendous success at Parker-McCool under its last four 1988 2 2 1 coaches, posting an impressive 61-22 record. 1989 3 1 0 5 Formerly known as Delta Field and Travis E. Parker Field, the 8,500 seat stadium was completed in time for the 1970 season. In 1984, 1990 2 2 0 the field was renamed to honor former Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning Board of Trustees member, Travis E. Parker, a tireless 1991 2 3 0 supporter of Delta State University and the Delta area communities. 1992 1 2 1 5 In 2007, DSU honored long-time coach and administrator Horace McCool by naming the stadium in his honor.
