hat do you get when you take Funk, Jazz, R&B, Rock & Roll and mix it all together? You get WAR, a band that has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide. Lonnie Jordan, original lead singer, keyboardistW and musical director has always been the voice of WAR and is bringing his talent to Lake Mission Viejo. With hits like “Lowrider,” “Cisco Kid,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends?”, “The World is a Ghetto,” “Slippin’ into Darkness,” or “Spill the Wine,” it is easy to see how WAR’s music is a timeless thread in the quilt of American pop culture. In 1969, Eric Burdon and WAR recorded and released their first album entitled Eric Burdon Declares WAR featuring the number one single “Spill The Wine.” The following year, on September 16, Jimi Hendrix joined Eric Burdon and WAR for what would turn out to be his last jam session ever at London’s Famous Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club. Though Burdon departed after the death of his friend Jimi, WAR skyrocketed with a sound that reflected the political and cultural landscape.Come out and experience why “WAR is not a band.
