The AIMS Science Test will be administered Monday, April 17. This test is for all students currently enrolled in any level of Biology. While the regular school day won’t begin until 9:25, school bus schedules will not be altered and will still pick students up at their regularly scheduled early morning times. If students not participating in AIMS Science testing are on campus prior to 9:25, they will be sent to the main gym. Wildcat Day is students’ opportunity to discover why the University of Arizona is a great fit. This spirited event will be hosted in downtown Phoenix and will have opportunities for all students in high school to learn more about life as a Wildcat. We especially hope juniors and seniors will attend as we will have sessions for committed seniors, seniors still deciding, and admissions 101 sessions for freshman-juniors students. Beyond the sessions, students will have the opportunity to connect with current students, UA staff, and alumni. Interested Wildcats should RSVP as soon as possible as spots are filling up. Maricopa Community College is looking for graduating seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the President's Honors Scholars Program. The Rocky Mountain Association for College Admission Counseling (RMACAC) is having its spring college fair Sunday, April 30 at Arizona State University’s Tempe campus. This event usually attracts about 125 in-and-out-of-state colleges and is free for all high school students and parents. You can register at http://rmacac.org/college-fairs/springphoenix/. A meeting for Common Application/Uncommon Schools will take place at Corona del Sol (1001 East Knox Road, Tempe) on April 26 from 6:30 – 8:30pm. Over 450 colleges and universities use the Common Application when students apply to college but those schools use it in many different ways. Tempe Union High School District’s sophomores, juniors and parents can: • Learn what different kinds of schools look for in a successful application • Get details about how colleges view student essays, letters of recommendation, and test scores • Serve on a mock Admissions Committee using actual Common Applications Summer School registration for the Tempe Union High School District is underway. The Summer Education Academy (summer school) will be located at Marcos de Niza this summer. Registration and tuition will be handled through McClintock’s counseling department and bookstore. Contact your student’s counselor for more details. Any senior intending to enroll at a Maricopa Community College next year must take the Accuplacer placement test. Representatives from Maricopa Community Colleges will be on campus April 21 to administer the Accuplacer for prospective students. Students must have an MEID prior to testing. Contact the counseling department for more information. Returning students intending to enroll in a dual enrollment course next year must also complete the Accuplacer. Math and Write Placer tests will take place April 27 and the Reading test will take place May 3. Students must have an MEID prior to testing. Contact the counseling department for more information. Congratulations to the McClintock A Cappella and Chanticleers who both earned Gold Awards at the Forum Festival in Anaheim last weekend! This is the highest possible rating. The A Cappella Bass Section and Shaul Leket-Mor received Outstanding Musician awards. Way to represent, Charger singers!! The McClintock Solar Kart Club "Solar Chargers" went to Tucson to compete in the qualifying race against 18 other schools from all around the state and qualified 1st. We will have pole position in the championship race on Saturday, April 29th. Key members of the team include Taylor Bollinger (driver and team leader), Joshua Tenney (builder and club president), Kyle Singleton (builder), Dria Varcados (builder), Blake Jensen (builder), Rhulin Hanna (builder), Jack Griffin (designer), Trenten Moore (builder), Sean Guiney (builder), Justin Merten (builder), and sponsors John Hankinson and Theresa Bollinger.
