DISH Network Satellite Television Brings More Channels to Including Local TV

EchoStar's DISH Network Now Offers a Better Alternative to Cable

Littleton, Colo., June 26, 2002 – EchoStar Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH) is pleased to announce today that, as a result of the successful deployment of a new satellite, DISH Network™ now offers more satellite TV channels to Hawaii customers including nine local TV channels, America's Top 100 programming package and more premium movie channels.

Local channels ABC Ch. 4 (KITV), NBC Ch. 13 (KHNL), CBS Ch. 9 (KGMB), PBS Ch. 11 (KHET), UPN Ch. 5 (KFVE), IND Ch. 32 (KBFD), IND Ch. 14 (KWHE) and IND Ch. 20 (KIKU) are now available by satellite television to the state of Hawaii. However, FOX, Channel 2 (KHON), is not available to DISH Network customers at this time.

With the addition of local channel service to the Hawaiian Islands, DISH Network is now able to provide an important competitive alternative to local cable service in Hawaii. DISH Network now offers local channels via satellite TV to a total of 39 cities and their metro areas nationwide.

The local channels are available for a price of only $5.99 per month to DISH Network customers. However, until retransmission permission is obtained from FOX, local channels will be offered at a $1 discount to DISH Network customers in Hawaii.

America's Top 100 Programming Package After the successful satellite launch of EchoStar VII in February, DISH Network is also able to offer customers in Alaska and Hawaii 30 more channels. For $31.99 per month, Alaskan and Hawaiian customers can upgrade from America's Top 70 to America's Top 100, DISH Network's most popular programming package offering news, sports, movies, children's and family programming for only $1 more per month than their current America's Top 70 package.

New channels now featured include the Speed Channel, Toon Disney, Discovery Health, FOX News, ESPN Classic, Court TV, the Weather Channel and CNN International as well as more than 30 commercial-free, CD-quality music channels.

Hawaii DISH Network customers also have more movie choices as well. Now, six HBO channels are available for $13.99, three Cinemax channels for $11.99, eight Showtime channels for $11.99 and six Starz channels for $11.99. Customers who previously subscribed to HBO or Showtime will get the new channels automatically without any additional charge. Prior to June 1, only three HBO channels and two Showtime channels were available to Alaska and Hawaii customers.

DISH Network customers in Hawaii will now be able to purchase either America's Top 50 or America's Top 100. Due to availability of the new packages, America's Top 70 programming package will no longer be available on DISH Network after Aug. 1. Customers who do not choose to upgrade their accounts before Aug. 1 will automatically be upgraded to America's Top 100 at that time.
