  • Attukal Pongala Campaign Strategy
Attukal Pongala Campaign Strategy Attukal Pongala 2019 Attukal Pongala is a 10-day festival celebrated at the Attukal Temple, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India, during which there is a huge gathering of millions of women on the ninth day. This is the lighting of the Pongala hearth (called Pandarayaduppu) placed inside the temple by the chief priest. The festival is marked as the largest annual gathering of 2.5 million women by the Guinness World Records in 2009. This is the earliest Pongala festival in Kerala. This temple is also known by the name Sabarimala of women. Mostly Attukal Pongala falls in the month of March or April. Trivandrum Municipal Corporation successfully implemented green protocol for the third time with the help of the Health Department and Green Army International. The need of Green Pongala About 4 years back the amount of waste collected at the end of Attukal Pongala used to measure around 350 tons. Corporation took steps to spread messages of Green Protocol to the devotees and food distributers more effectively with the help of the Green Army. In 2016 Corporation brought this measure down to about 170 tons. Corporation continued to give out Green Protocol messages and warnings throughout the year. And the measure came down to 85 tons in 2017 and 75 tons in 2018. After the years of reduction in waste, Presently, this year, in 2019 the waste has reduced as much as 65 Tons. The numbers show the reason and need for Green Protocol implementation for festivals. It could be understood that festivals or huge gatherings of people anywhere can bring about a huge amount of wastes in which the mixing of food wastes and other materials makes handling of wastes difficult or literally impossible.

  • Introduction
7 CHAPTER Introduction Over the last few months, the world economy has been showing alarming signs of fragility and instability. Economic growth has been sluggish with protracted unemployment, fiscal uncertainty and subdued business and consumer sentiments. Growth in high income countries is projected to be weak as they struggle to repair damaged financial sectors and badly stretched financial sheets. 1.2 Global economic growth started to decelerate on a broad front in mid-2011 and this trend is expected to stretch well into 2012 and 2013. The United Nations base line forecast for the growth of world gross product (WGP) is 2.6% for 2012 and 3.2% for 2013, which is below the pre-crisis pace of global growth. 1.3 It is expected that the US economy will grow at about 2% with modest growth in exports. Persistent high unemployment and low wage growth have been holding back aggregate demand and together with the prospects of prolonged depressed housing prices, this has heightened risks of a new wave of home foreclosures in the United States. However, employment data for December 2011 and January 2012 have been encouraging with signs of revival in business confidence. On the other hand, as far as the Euro Zone is concerned, high deficit and debt continue to prevail. The Euro Zone experienced a period of declining output, high unemployment and subdued private consumption. However, the business climate indicator increased for the first time in ten months and inflation rate fell from 3% to 2.8 % in December. In order to boost investment, the European Central Bank flooded banks with low cost loans and there was improvement in demand.

  • The Spotless Purana Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis, Please
The Spotless Purana Date: 2012-06-18 Author: Sharadha devi dasi Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev. The below is one of the verses which our Maharaj cherished from Srimad Bhagavatam 12.13.18 and hearing him recite this verse is a great blessing, śrīmad-bhāgavataṁ purāṇam amalaṁ yad vaiṣṇavānāṁ priyaṁ yasmin pāramahaṁsyam ekam amalaṁ jñānaṁ paraṁ gīyate tatra jñāna-virāga-bhakti-sahitaṁ naiṣkarmyam āviskṛtaṁ tac chṛṇvan su-paṭhan vicāraṇa-paro bhaktyā vimucyen naraḥ Srimad Bhagavatam is the spotless purana. It is most dear to the Vaishnavas because it describes the pure and supreme knowledge of the paramahamsas. This Bhagavatam reveals the means for becoming free from all material work, together with the processes of transcendental knowledge, renunciation and devotion. Anyone who seriously tries to understand Srimad Bhagavatam, who properly hears and chants it with devotion, becomes completely liberated. The word pāramahaṁsyam indicates that even completely liberated souls are eager to hear and narrate Srimad Bhagavatam. We will see how even demigods love to listen to Bhagavatam from the below incident. Once there lived an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna by name Poonthaanam. He worshipped Guruvayoorappan (Lord Krishna) with all his heart and soul. People loved him for his beautiful Bhagavatam discourses. There is a temple in North Kerala called Kottiyoor. The significant deity in the temple is Lord Siva. The temple was kept open only for a few days during a year. There were no human activities in that place for the rest of the year. Once Poonthaanam reached the Kottiyoor temple and had a bath in the holy river.
