Located just 5km from Macreddin Village, Greenan Farm and Maze has something for everyone. Spend the whole day wandering around the farm in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. With loads of attractions to check out, the day will be packed full of things to do and will keep all the family and kids fully occupied. Open 7 days a week in July & August from 10am – 6pm.

Greenan Shekina Sculpture Garden…

Located just ten minutes from Macreddin Village, this tranquil and beauty-filled garden situated at the entrance to Glenmalure Valley is a reflective space. It contains a stream, ponds, shrubs, a gazebo and a unique collection of sculptures by modern Irish Artists. Open daily from 11am – 5:30pm. The Meeting of the Waters, Avoca…

Located just fifteen minutes from Macreddin Village, the Avonmore and Avonbeg Rivers come together to form the Avoca River, otherwise known as The Meeting of the Waters. Here on a rustic seat, formed from the root of a tree; the poet Thomas Moore is said to have written the words of the Irish Melody, ‘The Meeting of the Waters’.

The Red Kite Walk, Avoca…

Located just fifteen minutes from Macreddin Village, this walk begins at the old school beside Avoca Handweavers in Avoca Village. The Red Kite walk will take you through some wonderful woodland and you can view the Village from the forest walk that overlooks it, just follow the red way marking signs. Not only will walkers love this 2.5km trail, but birdwatchers are in for a real treat too. In 2009, The Golden Eagle Trust re-introduced a set of Red Kite birds into Kilmagig Forest. Today, there are 30 breeding pairs who have made their habitat around the Red Kite Walk, which is part of the forest. Well signposted, this self-guided walk overlooks Avoca Village and you will enjoy stunning scenery along its route.

Located just twenty five minutes from Macreddin Village, spend some time in Glendalough and bask in the beauty of the Countryside. Steeped in history and heritage, Glendalough is a wonderful place to spend the day. Challenge yourself and take on the Spinc. The Spinc ridge overlooks the spectacular Glendalough Valley. Located just fifteen minutes from Macreddin Village, the Railway Walk runs along part of the original train track from to ; alongside the Derry River and through some farmland. The walk has some picnic tables along the way and has a clearly defined path. A great way to spend some quality time with nature and work up an appetite for when you return.
