Just like Starkiller Base, the white dwarf accelerates particles up to almost the speed of light (the fastest speed possible in our Universe) and aims them at its companion star in a deadly beam. This is problematic as media serves as an agent of socialization, and the representations of masculinity in the Star Wars franchise may influence viewers’ idealization of masculinity leading to real world consequences. The research questions being analyzed in this study are: Is hegemonic masculinity performed by central characters in Star Wars? If so, how is it reinforced, how is it challenged, and how do these change over time? This study uses a critical discourse analysis to analyze the character development of twenty central characters of the Star Wars franchise, how these characters are both challenged and aspire to fall into ideals of hegemonic masculinity, and how these ideals may shift over time. Regardless of whether you are a fan or not, the Star Wars phenomenon has had a huge impact on modern life. It has introduced a number of sayings and spin off/ copies of the movie. Whilst it may seem silly to celebrate such a day, it is one of the happiest days of the year. It began as an in joke that most people who had seen Star Wars was in on and it became a day where people joined together in Star Wars silliness regardless of their background. Star Wars was an epic movie that was written and directed by George Lucas and premiered in 1977. It became a worldwide smash hit. Audiences had seen nothing like it before, sat in the theatre watching the enormous words scroll up the screen at the beginning of the movie, then the special effects which today seem so basic and yet, back then, were just fantastic! It took us all to a fantasy place we had never been before. Characters such as Luke Skywalker, Hans Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, C3P0, R2D2, Darth Vader, Yoda and Obi – Wan Kenobi. Today, 40+ years later there are still movies in franchise being made watched. Merchandise is sort after and some things are worth thousands of dollars to collectors. A lightsabre of Luke Skywalkers sold for over $172,000 and a camera used by George Lucas sold for $625,000.

Five small moons slowly drift into view from the far side of the planet. The MAIN TITLE is followed by a ROLL-UP: The REPUBLIC GALACTICA is dead. Ruthless trader barons, driven by greed and the lust for power, have replaced enlightenment with oppression, and "rule by the people" with the FIRST GALACTIC EMPIRE. Until the tragic Holy Rebellion of "06", the respected JEDI BENDU OF ASHLA were the most powerful warriors in the Universe. For a hundred thousand years, generations of Jedi Bendu knights learned the ways of the mysterious FORCE OF OTHERS, and acted as the guardians of peace and justice in the REPUBLIC. Now these legendary warriors are all but extinct. One by one they have been hunted down and destroyed by a fero- cious rival sect of mercenary warriors: THE BLACK KNIGHTS OF THE SITH. It is a period of civil wars. The EMPIRE is crumbling into lawless barbarism through- out the million worlds of the galaxy.
