28 Monday, August 4, 2008 Deal Making – Continued from page 28 it,” Hennig said. “He had grass pedigree and we always felt that at some point we were going to try him on the grass. It’s just there are more opportunities out there for good purses with dirt horses. That’s why it took us a little while.” The trainer thought his horse had po- tential from the start, however. “He’s always trained like a nice horse,” Hennig said. “We thought he was going to be a pretty nice horse. The form certainly can’t reflect the trip he had in (his lone turf race). He ran a big race.” Willsboro Point will go out for Scott Schwartz, who claimed the gelded son of from Roy Lerman. Since the $35,000 claim, the horse has taken it to another level. “I liked his pedigree, I watched his races in Tampa and thought the horse would have a future on the grass,” Schwartz said. “He did it the right way, he must have had three or four horses challenging him on the front end and he put everyone away, just kept going. I had never seen him in person but he’s a great looking horse. It worked out, you know? You never think they’ll turn into a stakes horse, you hope it.” Willsboro Point (Eibar Coa) is 2-for-2 at the distance and 4-for-7 lifetime on the grass. The trainer believes the 1 1/8 miles is the shortest his horse wants to go. “He can go 2 miles probably,” Schwartz said. “He seems to be the main speed here. He only got beat once with me by a neck and that was a tough trip, in between horses. He’s getting bet- ter every race. He was real green when I claimed him, he didn’t know what he was doing. He’s still learning, but right now he’s on top of his game.” Field Sport (Robby Albarado) breaks from the outside for trainer Michael Zwiesler. The son of Jade Hunter has one win from four turf starts. The win came in closing fashion in an allowance race at Delaware Park. Thou Swell (Jean-Luc Samyn), a $250,000 as 2-year-old, comes off a maiden win a Belmont in his third career try. The George Weaver-trained son of would appreciate a quick pace. Picou (Julien Leparoux) rounds out the field for trainer David Fawkes. In his most recent start, the son of broke his maiden June 23 at Delaware Park.
