Jon Goodell : Jon Goodell, OSU Center for Health Sciences Medical Library Director, happy to help libraries identify health info, [email protected]

Jenny Watson : Hi everyone, Jenny Watson, Head of Storage and Delivery at University of Oklahoma Libraries, [email protected]

Jolene Poore -- Ada : Ada Public Library has worked on Banned Book Week and a program Ada Reads with East Central University Library.

Cherity Pennington : Shawnee Public Schools has a great relationship with Shawnee Public Library, Pioneer Library System. We have done book clubs, reading challenges, and more. Pioneer has been a great partner during the pandemic. I feel like I call Peggy Cook, branch manager, several times a week.

Kristen Burkholder : Pre-Covid-19, the Oklahoma City University Library worked with the Metropolitan Library to have them come to campus a couple of times and help our students (and employees) get public library cards. In two events we had several dozen people get cards. :)

Chloe Summers : Prior to covid- we collaborated with PLS for Makerweek, Bookclub, sharing public library resources with students, and more. We have also collaborated with OU to provide more resources for students!

Chris Robbins : I have successfully started working with the Chickasha Public Library three years ago but the relationship is getting stronger each year. adrienne : I regularly visit a 6th grade classroom at the local public school to do booktalks with the kids. The teacher gives me the whole hour. It makes for a long day, but it's super fun.

Chloe Summers : Librarians from PLS also came to our staff room and set up/updated library cards for our teachers, which was awesome!

Bailee : Prio to Covid the Altus Public Library partnered with the City of Altus Parks and Rec, Rotary, Heatlh Department, local Vo-Tech, and community members in order to get a story walk put into one of the parks here.

Bailee : Prior*

Rebekah Lynam, Purcell Public Library : Pioneer Library System is very excited to expand our partnership with our area schools through OverDrive's Public Library Connect, which gives schools access to Sora and grants access to students to PLS age-appropriate collections using their school credentials rather than a separate library card.

Beth Lyle : Tecumseh Middle School librarian Kelli Brown has done a great job promoting the free digital public library resource Hoopla from Pioneer- she is hosting an online book club with this resource.

Stacy Ford : I’d say currently I’m really trying to connect my elementary students access to Sora with Pioneer access through our reciprocal agreement. I’ve also promoted to parents to join the Metropolitan Library system for greater ebook access.

Angel Suhrstedt : Our library is located within the Del City Community Center. Last summer we started partnering with the city of Del City to offer "swim up storytime" at the public pool. It was a hit for kids and our library staff that helped with the project - hoping that we can do more of the same/or something similar this summer!

Cherity Pennington : We love the Sora access our students now have because of Pioneer.

Helen Clements : Good for the OU-Pioneer collaboration!

Bailee : That sounds like an awesome collaboration! Way to go!

Wendy : Way to go Bailee!

Bob Holzmann : I have been sharing with some of the TU Library Directors on a few items of specific or mutual interest or need.

Bailee : We are only quaratine the books for 72 hours then we dissinfect them.

Bob Holzmann : Many of our library staff, librarians, and library management have been working with a wide range of TCC Departments and leaders with a variety of tasks and projects. TCC library has a closer academic working relationship with Union and , and with NSU in Broken Arrow. These collaborations have been ongoing and I'm sure will be of great value as all are figuring out the future and what that will look like.

Cherity Pennington : Bailee, how are you disinfecting?

Kristen Burkholder : My understanding is that it does not need to be as long as 14 days. The virus only lives on surfaces 1-3 days, depending on the type of surface.

Jennifer Ballard : TCCL is quarantining for 72 hours.

Sherry Beach : We are also doing 72 hours

Bob Holzmann : We wrote a procedure - I'll go grab it...

Angel Lighty Suhrstedt : Metro is also quarantining for 72 hours

Shellie McGill, Bartlesville : Bartlesville Quarantines for 72 hours

Helen Clements : Thanks for the info on quarantine for books!

Hennessey Public Library : We disinfect immediately and then shelve because we're curbside only

Brent Greyson : there is a new, smaller band of UVC light (far-UVC) that is gaining quick traction for use in a variety of applications, one of which could be disinfecting books.

Sharon Saulmon : There's an article in American Libraries Magazine May 2020 issue on handling materials.

Shellie McGill, Bartlesville : Bartlesville also disinfects prior to quarantine

Amanda Kordeliski : Https://bit.ly/2W61c9c

Helen Clements : Our branches meeting is tomorrow, so I'll share this chat or a part of it with our Associate Dean, Mary Larson, and the branches. Helen Clements

Sarah Robbins : We’re planning to quarantine for 72 hours. For academics, are you suspending course reserves that are shorter term loan?

Chloe Summers : Success: Social media- Instagram Stories & Videos specifically. Youtube has been semi-successful for book talks. Office hours on Zoom have not been successful for us at our level.

Molly Dettmann : Instagram is popular with our students @normannorthlibrary! We started posting about our dogs working from home and those, of course, have been the most popular. We also post about books and reminders that we’re here for our students! Stacy Ford : I’ve been using Streamyard. It broadcasts to single place (FB, YouTube) for free. You can pay a nominal fee and it will broadcast to multiple venues. You can easily share a join link with guests. Up to six people can be on the broadcasts at one time. You can have other people in the holding room. Yesterday I had staff members read “I Want My Hat Back” and there were 10 of is and it worked really well.

Bailee : Facebook Live and videos have been really successfull for us. edwa5606 : We've been using LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda) as a tool for professional development.

Kristen Burkholder : We haven't really thought about course reserves yet, to be honest; we're going through an LMS transition right now so the entire course reserve process will be different.

Cherity Pennington : Instagram, Twitter, FB, and YouTube have been good for us to get information out. We use Zoom a lot. We keep our website updated and promote it on social media. We struggle to reach everyone, sadly.

Cherity Pennington : Stacy, I played with StreamYard just this week. I really like it.

Bailee : Questions: Has anyone had success with this? I want to start using Zoom more for teen programming and story time.

Brent Greyson : RE: reserve and physical materials -- Similarly, we've talked about course reserves and physical loans, but haven't settled on anything yet as far as I'm aware. We are implementing a touchless printing service for a small group of students, though, and that looks like it will work well. edwa5606 : "Instagame" haha [email protected] Baeza : Bailee, I've been using Zoom a lot, and like with most tools, which version you get and what you want to do with it will determine how good it will be for this purpose.

Helen Clements : Has anybody's cat done a reading? Mine likes to watch the computer monitor--especially the moving cursor looks like a bug....

Jackie Kropp : We’ve had success with Zoom programs

Amanda Kordeliski : Drop your instagram handle in the chat so we have great libraries to follow and gather ideas from. Ours is @normannorthlibrary

Chloe Summers : @highsidelibrary

Kelly Sitzman : @pioneerlibrarysystem

Bailee : Thank you so much!

Angel Lighty Suhrstedt : @metrolibraryok lisa : Of Course! Everyone nationally is struggling with the digital divide.

Jolene Poore -- Ada : We are really worried about not reaching people without internet/equip edwa5606 : @oulibraries

Stacy Ford : Yes.

Molly Dettmann : @oklibraries is OLA’s Insta (and I heard from a good source that they like to repost awesome stuff from other library accounts, especially from OLA members) ;)

Cherity Pennington : We have huge concerns about lack of connectivity in Shawnee.

Brent Greyson : I'm very concerned about access, yes.

Jennifer Ballard : Yes there has been a lot of discussion about this [email protected] Baeza : Bailee, I use it with college students and I find it is really good to have a second person co-host who monitor chat or keeps an eye on all the videos so they can catch the visual cues that were just discussed.

Jackie Kropp : It’s always a concern. We’ve developed a fully analog version of our SRP program for just this reason

Carol Jones : @shawneemslib

Kitty Herbel-Enid : I’m using Google Classroom to get information out to my teens and then we have several zooms throughout the week.

Hennessey Public Library : Our biggest drawback in most in community don't have internet and use the library for that wifi so virtual programming is out of the question

Hennessey Public Library : Trying to get mobile hotspot options funding is problem too

Brent Greyson : We have been able to help a few of our stakeholders with hardware and assistance, but it's not really sustainable long term or for larger stakeholder populations. [email protected] Baeza : Some apps, like Zoom, allow people to join with computer or just a phone, even a landline.

Wendy : Bailee your brother just walked by and said to tell you hi!

Phillip Fitzsimmons : I can be reached at [email protected]

Bailee : @altuspubliclibrary

Kitty Herbel-Enid : T-mobile has grants. Enid Schools got one and used it to purchase hot spots for all secondary students.

Beth Lyle : We are purchasing 2 iPads and antimicrobial cases for our nursing home so residents can facetime

Phillip Fitzsimmons : A resource that will be on our resouces sheet is: Carl Albert Center's COVID-19/Coronavirus Digital Collection

Brent Greyson : Love the nursing home connectivity idea. Thanks for sharing that.

Bailee : I have been wondering about purchasing an Ipad for filming versus my iphone. Anyone have thoughts on what is better?

Bailee : Love that idea as well!

Jackie Kropp : I make much better videos on my phone than my iPad

Natalie Currie- Dept of Libraries : ODL survey released today on digital inclusion needs in your communities in light of COVID-19. Survey results will help us determine best use of Oklahoma's allotment of IMLS CARES Funds: https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/OKODL/bulletins/28a143a

Jackie Kropp : I always look off to the side filming on my iPad. it’s driving me crazy

Cherity Pennington : Our elementary school librarians have been joining their classroom teachers when they Zoom with their students. Having a great working relationship with collaborators is key.

Molly Dettmann : Having a stand for the iPad helps make it easier than iPhone, but I prefer iPhone

Rebekah Lynam, Purcell Public Library : I love that, Cherity!

Molly Dettmann : Or Laptop

Brent Greyson : @Bailee, I may be able to act as a sounding board for recording hardware after this if you like. [email protected]

Jackie Kropp : Maybe we need a webinar about how to make good digital content.

Amanda Kordeliski : Https://bit.ly/2W61c9c

Amanda Kordeliski : An example of choice boards are available on the resource page

Bailee : Jackie I think that is a great idea!! Now that I am doing so much more digital content I want it to be better quality instead of rushed.

Brent Greyson : For our TSRT webinar we recently conducted, I shared a document with a ton of work from home applications, many of which may be useful for recording and editing. I can share that with whomever may want it.

Kelly Sitzman : @Brent, if you want to send that to Amanda, she can pull and include in the Resource Page!

Brent Greyson : Will do! lisa : It's great to see everyone- thanks for sharing your best practices. PLEASE attend the Q & A for the Proposed Constitution and Bylaws on Monday, May 11, 2:30-3:30. ZOOM information will be coming via OLA News soon.

Callie Smith - Miami Public Library : I do not have a working mic :( . But we have been doing a lot more posting on the website and Facebook. I've been trying to educate our patrons on the online services we offer by highlighting different services, classes and even asking them something they have wanted to learn but never had the time for and then posting screen shots of the different ways that they can learn those things for free through our library membership. We have had quite a bit of interaction on those posts.

Bob Holzmann : I sent our check-in procedure to Phillip- I think he may be able to send it or post it?

Bob Holzmann : We have a couple of Covid19 LibGuides created by librarians and staff:

Bob Holzmann : https://guides.library.tulsacc.edu/pandemic

Molly Dettmann : Posting things that people can view later work really well. It’s fun to just keep an eye out and see views increase well after initial postings.

Bob Holzmann : https://guides.library.tulsacc.edu/c.php?g=1026924

Chris Robbins : Collaboration and support is limited and almost non existent in my school. I post on FB an easy and fun activity one day a week and that’s all.

Beth Lyle : Flyers going out about online summer learning with school lunch delivery

Bailee : It has been so weird not doing the school visits this year.

Cherity Pennington : Our school district is promoting what our public library has to offer for the summer. It’s nice when a librarian also manages district communications. :)

Bailee : We are handing out our summer reading bags, packets, etc at the school food stops this month to try to reach as many kids in person as possible.

Phillip Fitzsimmons : Here is a Dropbox link to Bob's docuement https://www.dropbox.com/s/m84letv9r3ca2ns/Procedure%20for%20processing%20returned%20 items.docx?dl=0

Kitty Herbel-Enid : Our school district is sending out information through google classroom to their students and helping them get signed up for my Teen google classroom. [email protected] Baeza : In Zoom, if the host allows attendees to unmute themselves, you can just press the space bar and it will unmute you as long as you hold it down.

Molly Dettmann : Being aware that discrimination is occurring and stopping that kind of behavior in your library. We all have Codes of Conduct and can enforce and help those patrons feel safe

Chris Robbins : Would it be better not to focus on just Asians but all ethnic groups?

Helen Clements : Really good points about library collections! Authors who are members of the group, rather than people from outside the group writing about it.

Molly Dettmann : @Chris I personally think it’s fun and great to highlight cultures during those months, but also to include those books in things year round edwa5606 : How are people feeling about going back to physical spaces?

Chris Robbins : Struggling with being seen as a collaborator and an important part of the learning communitee

Bailee : Thank you so much for doing this Town Hall! IT has been really helpful!

Cylinda Richardson-Martin : has anyone reached out to teens via twitch

Cherity Pennington : This was a great Town Hall. Thank you all for organizing it.

Cylinda Richardson-Martin : great talk

Helen Clements : If it's okay, I'd like to share this recording with the Tribal Libraries group--we will be meeting soon, at least a few of us!

Lisa Battige : Thank you everyone

Brent Greyson : Twitch and TikTok, are very popular platforms right now, for whatever that is worth.

Bailee : I am feeling really nervous. Staff is here right now. We open to the public Monday.

Helen Clements : So glad I decided to attend!

Sherry Beach : Very anxious here too

Jolene Poore -- Ada : We are purchasing a fogging system to disinfect our building.

Cathy Blackman : Only staff is coming in for the month of May. We are staggering our time so very few of us are in the building at any one time. I feel ok.

Brent Greyson : Oh wow, that's a huge change re: fogging system.

Molly Dettmann : Socially distant (((hugs))) to everyone preparing to open.

Lynda Siavashpour : Thanks so much for this Town Hall, it was very informative!

Helen Clements : Apparently reopening classes and bringing people back is a big concern around the country (NPR posting)

Cristin Ashcraft~Enid~Public Library : Could you give us more information on the fogging system that you are purchasing? astreet : I appreciate the measures we are taking to limit the number of people in the buildings and all the ways we are changing the ways we are offering services.

Cylinda Richardson-Martin : I felt better yesterday going into the building

Kristen Burkholder : We're not even opening to staff at OCU until mid-June (if it doesn't get moved even later) and we're still figuring out when and how we will reopen to the public. Probably we will begin with appointment-only. But I think it's a different dynamic at a university (in summer especially) than at a public library.

Amanda Kordeliski : @ChrisRobbins, I have found the AASL book Leadership really helpful in empowering librarians to view themselves as collaborators with great ideas for how to reflect on your practice and successfully reach out to teachers. I will share my copy!

Bob Holzmann : Thank you for putting this together. Most appreciated. astreet : This was really well done. Thank you all for your leadership.

Bailee : I have to get off of here! Thank you again for putting this together! Have a fantastic day, everyone! edwa5606 : Thank you!

Chloe Summers : This was great! Awesome information and super cute presentation!

Brent Greyson : Thank you for this town hall. Great idea and the format worked perfectly.

Wendy : Thank you!

Stacy Schrank : Thank you Amanda, Kelly, and Phillip - Great Job!! Lots of great information and thoughts from library leaders across the great state of Oklahoma… Super proud to be a part of this community.

Angel Lighty Suhrstedt : thanks for a great town hall OLA! Looking forward to more good conversations and idea shares!

Amanda Kordeliski : @Helen, Yes! Please feel free to share with Tribal libraries and anyone else who would find it helpful.

Chris Robbins : Awesome meeting Thank you

Jennifer Ballard : Thank you!

Shellie McGill, Bartlesville : thank you!

Bridget’s iPhone : Thank you hosts!

Cylinda Richardson-Martin : thanks

Brent Greyson : Take care, everyone. Hang in there!

Linda Pye : Thank you!

Hennessey Public Library : thank you!

Kristen Burkholder : Thanks!

Natalie Currie- Dept of Libraries : Great job, guys! Thanks for your leadership.

Jenny Watson : Thanks everyone! Stay safe!

Daniel Gibbs : Thanks!

Denise : Thank You !
