BRIEF SUMMARY OF PROJECT

Environmental Clearance for the proposed Common Effluent Treatment Plant project at Survey No. 113/7B of Village, Taluk, District, by ACCEPT Environment Solutions Private Limited, Chandiroor. The proposed project involves the construction of common effluent treatment plant for treating the untreated effluent from various fish processing units of Aroor- Chandiroor area. ACCEPT Environment Solutions Private Limited is a Special Purpose Vehicle constituted by the Government of Kerala for the execution and running of the proposed Common Effluent Treatment Plant at Chandiroor. The CETP project for the fish processing unit is proposed as per the judgement from Hon. High court of Kerala vide OP 4362/1999 & direction from National Green Tribunal vide its order dated 02-07-2015. The proposed project of CETP falls under the Category ‘B’ of Schedule 7(h) –Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETP’s) of Environment Impact Assessment Notification 2006 and its subsequent amendments. The CETP site is located at Survey No. 113/7B of Aroor village, Cherthala Taluk, , Kerala. The Latitude and Longitude of the project site are 9o50’34.5”N and 76o18’46.5”E respectively. The proposed Common Effluent Treatment Plant is planned to be constructed in two phases of 1.5 MLD each. It is planned to construct and made functional the 1.5 MLD plant (Phase-1) initially. The treatment methodologies proposed in the CETP comprise of collection and conveyance system, pre-treatment units, equalization, biological treatment, sedimentation, filtration and disinfection system. About 10KLD of water will be required during the construction phase and which will be arranged through private suppliers from nearby area. Approximately 1 KLD of water is required during the operation phase and which will be obtained from borewell. The treated effluent confirming to the standards will be used for ground water recharging. Excess sludge produces during operation phase shall be disposed through authorized TSDF. Power required for the operation phase shall be catered through KSEB supply and stand-by DG will be provided to handle power failures. The proposed CETP project makes the Chandiroor puthenthodu pollution free from the untreated effluents being discharge from various fish processing units of the area. The proposed Common Effluent Treatment Plant is thus highly important for the protection of ecosystem as well as sustainability of fishery.
