22 boys 31 girls

Total of 53 pupils—Islesford, 19 pupils; Great Cran berry Island, 34. Last spring a large class graduated from the grade schools, and special mention should be made, I believe, of their work and graduation exercises. The gradu ation exercises in both schools were excellent in every way and reflected much credit upon both teachers and pupils. There have been two changes in the teaching force, 30 namely, Miss Nina Hammond, grammar, a graduate of Washington State normal, and George Milner, Islesford grammar, a graduate of Eastern State normal. All four teachers are doing excellent work, and I believe this to be a very successful year. I should like very much to see some playground ap paratus, such as swings, slides, etc., at each school. I believe the State would help us financially on this pro ject. Seventeen pupils are receiving higher education in different schools of the State, as follows: Bucksport Seminary 3 Ellsworth 5 Southwest Harbor 4 Bar Harbor 4 Bingham 1 In closing, I wish to heartily thank the superintend ing school committee and citizens for their support during the year. Respectfully submitted, WINFRED E. CLARK Superintendent of Schools. 31

SUPERINTENDING SCHO()L COMMITTEE

To the Citizens of Cranberry Isles: We have examined the report of the superintendent of schools, and approve the same. We feel able to recommend a reduction in our common school fund next year, but believe the high school tuition fund should remain the same, as there is a much larger num ber of tuition pupils than formerly.

We make the following recommendations:

This represents a reduction of $262. Respectfully submitted, F. W. BUNKER, Chairman. E. A. STANLEY. L. M. RICE.
