Our clients (“consumers”) immediately detect our green/eco-friendly practices simply by entering the office. We have eco-friendly policies in place for our conference rooms and public spaces within the office. Listed below are several examples:

• Most guest offices are equipped with motion sensors to turn on/off the lighting, conserving energy.

• All water is served in reusable pitchers and compostable cups (or reusable glasses) instead of disposable plastic bottles.

• Conference rooms and coffee stations provide biodegradable utensils, napkins and plates, in addition to reusable mugs for coffee.

• Not only are there recycle bins at every workstation or office, but also in every guest office as well as conference room.

• Duplex printers are available to all guests visiting the offices

• Other: During expansion and remodeling of the office spaces firmwide, the firm promoted sustainable practices by incorporating eco-friendly design, construction and furniture. Examples include:

• Interior glass walls to maximize natural light and minimize energy consumption

Do you have any goals with a short-term timetable in place to ensure measurable progress?

The San Francisco office is actively organizing an external audit of the recyclables and compostables. The goal is to complete the audit before the end of the year.

Mission statement: Bingham has a responsibility to its employees and clients to be environmentally conscious—not because we have to, but because we want to and because it is the right thing to do. The firm is committed to doing its part to make the environment cleaner, and in doing so, reinforce eco-friendly habits among its and staff. Taking steps to use less, reuse more and conserve energy make Bingham a healthier place to work, and benefit the many communities where we work and live.

Our firm has several projects underway that further our green initiative

• An after-hours lighting system which will automatically turn off all non-emergency lighting in the offices and hallways unless personnel makes a special request for extended lighting

• Transition to purchasing coffee pods in biodegradable packaging as opposed to Mylar

• Education of catering vendors to encourage participation of recycling and composting practices when using our office

• Annual clothing drives that not only encourage reuse, but also benefit local charities

• Ongoing cork recycling

• Ongoing battery recycling

• Ongoing use of biodegradable cleaning products (examples: dish soaps, microfiber towels instead of paper towels).
