Family Language Plan Guidance Document
This document contains approximately 1,100 vocabulary words. This word count does not include the phrase lists. With around 1,000 words in most languages, you’ll be able to ask people how they’re doing, tell them about your day and navigate everyday life situations like shopping and public transit. This means that once a learner successfully acquires the words in this document utilizing various activities and methods, they will enter conversational language proficiency. The topics and vocabulary in this document are tailored to the daily routines, conversations, and activities that happen between parents and children. This is a guidance document in the development of lessons and material resources for parents to utilize in their homes and daily lives with their children. Types of material resources to develop are things like eBooks, self-published language books (i.e.: through Diggy Pod), story boards, labels, quick response codes, etc. In addition, the purpose of this document is for language programs, organizations, institutions to make their own and translate into their own language. Parts of this document have areas to be expanded. The vagueness of this document is intended to be as easily translated into many different languages. It is the full intention for each program to take this document and make it culturally relevant and appropriate for their own language, culture, and land base.
