We will have a parade through the town followed by a service at St Mary Church Dispersal is expected to be at 4pm Andy Wilson, DC Glossop, 07703654313 For more details please contact District Commissioner (DC) 2 News from 12th Ashton Scout Group 12th Ashton Beavers, Cubs and Scouts went to Ashworth Valley Scout Campsite over the weekend in freezing conditions. On the Friday night after setting up their tents and cooking shelter. This was followed up with a Water Aid wide game, Scout Leader Morgan Crane explained how difficult it was in the third world countries to get water and they had to walk miles to wells to get it. The Scouts were split into teams, each member had a cup full of water and they had to get it back to their campsite without the other team spilling it for them, the winning team was the one with most water back at their campsite. Following a hot drink and a warm up by the fire it was off to their sleeping bags in their tents to keep warm as the frost came down. The start of activities on Saturday, was a tent and site inspection, followed by breakfast. Other activities over the weekend were orienteering, grass sledging, pioneering, a camp fire and backwoods cooking. The Assistant Scout Leader Stephen Crane showed them how to light fires and cook on it, the scouts liked the toasted marsh-mellows cooked on sticks best. During the weekend Ellie and Harrison were invested after moving up from Cubs into the Scouts, and Beaver Dillon was invested into Cubs. Dillon said, ‘I like Cubs but this camp was cold.’ Cub Scout Leader Hayley Mansell said, ‘It was my first time camping in a tent. I liked it all except for my cold feet, I was surprised that all the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts on their first camp liked it as well.’ 3 County Presentation Evening Scouts, Explorers & Network Award Ceremony April 2018 Please find below the link for Award recipients, their guests and leaders to book onto the next Presentation evening, which is on Wednesday 25th April 2018, again at Hyde town hall. https://gmeawardsapril18.eventbrite.co.uk This Award Reception is for Network, Explorer Scouts & Scouts is to be held at Hyde Town Hall, Corporation Street, Hyde. You may book a place at the Award Reception if you have recently gained either a Chief Scouts Award (Gold, Platinum or Diamond) Queens Scout Award Explorer Belt Young Leader Belt. If you have gained a Duke of Edinburgh Award in addition to your Scout Award this may also be recognised in the programme, if you so wish. Each award holder may book one place at this reception together with places for two family guests. Your Scout Leaders will receive an invitation separately therefore you do not need to book places for them using this process. As part of the booking process you will be asked to complete some questions about you and which award you are to be presented with. This will enable us formulate a brief personal introduction prior to you receiving your Award. Bookings will close on Sunday 1st April 2018 and invitations with full joining instructions will be sent out by email approximately 1 week before the evening I’m pleased to say that we shall be joined on the evening by both the Mayors of Tameside & Stockport. Claire Jarvis, Deputy County Commissioner - Operations 4 North Tameside District Cubs Cooking Competition 2018 Cubs from six North Tameside Cub packs gathered on Sunday 18th March at 250th Droylsden Scout HQ for the first ever district Cub's Cooking Competition. The packs from 2nd Ashton, 3rd Ashton, 6th Ashton (Ford and Gregory packs), 413th Manchester and 339th Manchester have been practising their peeling, chopping, frying and cooking skills for the past month in preparation. Leaders from all the packs took turns to judge each other’s teams on safety, hygiene and practical skills before the final meals were presented for the Mayor, Cllr Joyce Bowerman to judge on taste and presentation. The mains included garlic butter chicken, homemade burgers, vegetable stew, cornflake chicken fajitas, spaghetti bolognaise and Louisiana chicken whilst the dessert menus featured rice pudding, pancakes with fruit or lemon, Moravian mess, apple pie French toast and peaches and bananas with custard. The competition was incredibly tight with all the Cubs showing an outstanding level of cooking and teamwork skills. The eventual winners were 6th Ashton Gregory pack with their Louisiana chicken and apple pie French toast combination closely followed by 339th Manchester and 413th Manchester packs. The mayor commented that it was difficult to choose between the teams as the standard of cooking was very high. Yasmin, a member of the winning team said 'It was nice to have a competition that wasn't sport. I love cooking so this was something I wanted to enter.' Gill Cummins, ADC Cubs, thanked the mayor and her Consort Mr Fred Bowerman for turning out on a terribly cold, snowy day and all of the Cubs and leaders who ensured that the competition was a great success and hopefully the first of many. 5 We Escaped! On Friday the 9th of March, we went to an escape room. This experience was truly one to remember. At first thought, the idea of being locked in a room with a bunch of Explorers is terrifying, but once we started to explore the room and become comfortable in our surroundings, we were able to work as a team to find our way out. It was a test of inquisition and focus, whilst also laughing at the fact every time a sound effect went off we would scream. As a group that works together and meets up every week we are all used to working together, but this experience has brought us closer than before. Normally we argue a lot more and fight over what to do, but the threat of being locked in a room helped us listen to one another and focus on working towards the same goal, even though we did need quite a bit of help to work some things out. Although I began the night rather sceptical, due to my claustrophobia, once we began working it was so much fun and you can really get into the story. Proceeds to the jamboree fund. 6 Ashton Scout performs in National Target Sprint event A 12 year old scout from 6th Ashton, recently competed in the GB ranking event for Target Sprint. The event served as a qualifying event for selection to the GB squad, who plan on competing in various international competitions and world cups in Germany, Italy and South Korea this year. The current GB squad has 3 older Explorer and Network Scouts on it so there is a history of scouts doing well. The event format is run 400 metres, shoot 5 drop down targets using a target air rifle, then repeating before finishing with a 400 metre sprint. The junior event is open to 11 to 21 year olds, and there is also a senior event for the 21+ athletes. The scout from Ashton was mainly running for experience in competitions, and for fun, especially as he was the youngest there. However, things got more serious on the track, where despite the 17 and 18 year olds racing off ahead, he ran his own race, coming in to shoot very well and fast, finishing in 7minutes 14 seconds, ahead of an older athlete and only 44 seconds outside the time required for an invite to try for the GB squad. This was a new Personal Best improving on his previous time by 2 minutes and 22 seconds.

Conduct capable of causing nuisance or annoyance to a person in relation to that persons occupation of residential premises. Conduct capable of causing housing related nuisance or annoyance to any person. Anti-social behaviour Anti-social behaviour is a broad term used to describe the day to day incidents of crime, nuisance and disorder that make many people’s lives a misery – from litter and vandalism, to public drunkenness or noisy or abusive neighbours. Such a wide range of behaviours means that the responsibility for dealing with anti-social behaviour and tackling local issues affecting resident’s quality of life is shared between a number of agencies, particularly the Council, the Police and local Housing Providers. What action can be taken? Tameside Council and partners work closely together, they are committed to protecting residents and use a range of tools and powers to stop the behaviour from continuing and where necessary bring people to account for their actions. In many instances anti-social behaviour can be prevented by effective early intervention. In some cases, involving serious or persistent anti-social behaviour, statutory powers are available to provide protection for victims, witnesses and communities.     Overview of Tameside, Oldham, and Glossop Mind approach to exiting the lockdown Over the last few weeks we have been developing our plans for how we will respond to the lifting of the lockdown and how we will start to support our colleagues to return to our offices and starting to see clients again on a face to face basis. During lock down most of our workers have been able to work from home offering support, counselling, and wellbeing group activities over IT platforms. We have received great feedback from clients, and we envisage that this will remain as part of our new normal way of working. However, we are acutely aware that for some, this way of working is not effective or available. This is for several reasons including lack of access to IT and the lack of privacy to safely engage in one to one therapy and counselling. It appears this is more prevalent in our younger clients. Therefore, our plan is to phase in an approach where the ‘new norm’ becomes natural, adopting physical safe distancing in line with the Government and Public Health England guidelines. To help guide us in our planning, we agreed the following principles: • Ensuring a safe working environment for staff and volunteers in offices • Ensuring we can provide private confidential space for clients to use safely, with IT equipment provided. For example, clients can use a pre-set-up counselling room and then speak via IT/phone to a worker either working from home (in a confidential space) or from a separate counselling room.

Glossary Page 28 1 Introduction Production of a Joint LAA 1.1 The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), published in March 2012, introduced a requirement for Mineral Planning Authorities (MPAs) to plan for a steady and adequate supply of aggregates by preparing an annual Local Aggregate Assessment (LAA). This should be based on a rolling average of 10 years sales data and other relevant local information and an assessment of all of the supply options (including marine dredged, secondary and recycled sources)1. The guidelines specify that this can be done either individually or jointly by agreement with another or other mineral planning authorities. 1.2 The Association of Greater Manchester Authorities (AGMA), the Merseyside authorities, including Halton (working through Merseyside Environmental Advisory Service (MEAS)) and the unitary authority of Warrington (known as the ‘sub-region’) have decided to continue to work together by collaborating in the production of this document in order to satisfy the new duty to co-operate imposed by Section 110 of the Localism Act and due to established links from previous sub-regional working.

Gilwell Park is the spiritual home of Scouting, the biggest youth movement the world has ever seen. It embodies Baden-Powell’s dream of a home for all Scouts and a dedicated training centre for adults, and continues to evolve and develop while preserving this legacy. Gilwell Fellows The Gilwell Fellows are a group of supporters who care passionately about Gilwell Park and contribute to ensure it continues to develop for future generations.. Any support you’re able to provide ensures that Scouts continue to learn practical skills for life, while also developing lasting friendships and having unforgettable outdoor adventures. The Young Gilwell Fellows programme is for Scouts and supporters of Gilwell Park under the age of 30 who wish to be part of the Fellowship. They’re invited to participate in the existing programme and support fundraising ideas using social media and their own networks. ‘Over the last 15 years, Gilwell Park has been transformed into an excellent centre for Scouts and all young people. It has managed to balance respect for the unique place it holds in Scouting’s history with the need to be relevant, modern and viable.
