e strengthened our community ties in several ways this past year, launching speaker series in Wboth Saratoga Springs and Washington, DC. The partnerships – with Northshire Bookstore and NYU DC, respectively – are designed to expand access to our artists and their ideas while staying true to our mission of retreat. In Saratoga, Will Hermes, senior critic at Rolling Stone, talked with journalist Thomas Dimopoulos about his life in music writing and his research for a biography of Lou Reed, while in Washington, internationally acclaimed writer Andrew Solomon gave a preview of his 2016 book Far and Away: Reporting from the Brink of Change: Seven Continents, Twenty-Five Years, in conversation with Yaddo president Elaina Richardson. We also established a stronger presence on the West Coast, anchored by supporters and alumni in San Francisco. In October, friends of Yaddo attended the West Coast premiere of Board acting as stewards of our historic buildings.
