SeaChoice Central Canada Outreach Lead

Position based in: Toronto

Contract Term: At least Half-time, until end of March, 2012 (with intension to extend to at least 15 months, funding dependent)

Starting Date: March 2011

Salary range: $40 - 45,000 plus benefits (to be prorated to half-time with hope to (full time equivalent) increase to full time funding dependent)

Roles and Responsibilities:

The SeaChoice Central Canada Outreach Lead is responsible for contributing to the development of the SeaChoice program in Central Canada, focusing primarily on southern Ontario. He/she is responsible for working with our current business partners, the development of new partnerships, as well as event planning and communications related to the SeaChoice program in the region.

The Central Canada Outreach Lead will work for CPAWS Wildlands League Chapter, in close collaboration with CPAWS National Manager, Oceans and Freshwater Lakes, as well as with the team of Seachoice program staff from partner organizations located in and Halifax.

Responsibilities: The Central Canada Outreach Lead will:  Work with current SeaChoice business partners to advance their programs and outreach in Central Canada  Develop new business partnerships in Central Canada  Promote among consumers in Central Canada  Identify and support sustainable seafood supply options relevant to the Canadian market  Manage communications for SeaChoice, including events and materials, in Central Canada

Qualifications  Degree in environmental studies, sustainability, communications, business, marketing and/or related field  Minimum 3 years successful experience in related field  Experience in strategic planning and/or project management  Strong English written and oral communications skills;  Ability to work with technical and scientific materials, as well as analytical and research skills  Ability to network and work collaboratively with multiple parties  Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously  Strong organizational skills to achieve results on time and on budget  Good team player, flexible work style, and excellent interpersonal skills  Knowledge of marine conservation issues, ideally including sustainable seafood issues  Commitment to CPAWS and SeaChoice mission, values and programs  Ability and willingness to travel

Assets:  Bilingual oral and written proficiency (English and French)  Fearlessness, creativity, initiative and perseverance  Experience in the non-profit sector  Experience working with coalitions  Experience working with the business community  Demonstrated ability to organize events and in media relations  Knowledge of complex national organizations  Knowledge of environmental/nature conservation issues  Knowledge and experience with online communications, social media and social networking
