CLEMSON — When people think about senior living, they typically assume all seniors rely on extensive assistance — but that’s not always the case with Everlan by Dominion of Clemson. Since opening last year in Patrick Square, Everlan oper- ates on the focus of providing an optimal living environment for those ages 55 and older who seek to get the most out of life through independent living. Everlan meets personal needs while encouraging Daugherty personal freedom. Campus director Lindsey Daugherty said there is a “stigma” surrounding senior living. “We wanted Everlan to be a luxury apartment with indepen- dent living,” she said. “People had no idea what the purpose of it was. When people think of senior living, they automatical- ly assume they can’t do things on their own. The lifestyle here is meant to be an opportunity for residents to still live their normal lives, just with added support.
