Bwg - 11 PART – 11 ‘KHOJI’ SIMRAN (WORD CONTEMPLATION) Part-11 Briefly the action of ‘Simran’ has two aspects - 1. Extrovert - physical and mental action. 2. Introvert - Spiritual personal experience or ‘Divine Light’. The act of physical and mental ‘Simran’ has been discussed in detail. The connection between these two aspects is discussed below with more examples - Under the earth there is water. We take out this underground pure water to fulfill our needs. To take out this water we must do (boring) into the earth. When the layer of water is reached, the water comes up through a pipe which is inserted through the bored hole. But to bring he water out and get it to flow, we must put a washer in the pipe and work the hand pump. In the newly made bore, in the beginning, water does not come out even after pumping because there is ‘air’ in the pipe. Until the ‘air’ comes out of the pump, the underground water cannot be sucked up. To take the air out of the pump pipe and start the water flow, we must pour water from outside. In this manner as we keep working the hand pump, the air keeps coming out and the water starts flowing continuously. Exactly, the same way, in the spiritual path, we perform boring internally through ‘Simran’. This external effort through Simran can take our consciousness to a certain limited height beyond which it cannot reach the ‘spiritual-sphere’. -

Effect of Rasayana Therapy on Ageing: An Ayurvedic Perspective1 R.D.H Kulatunga * Abstract Ageing is a multidimensional process of physical, psychological and social change. Ayurveda Rasayana2 therapy has given powerful contribution to overcome age related disorders and act essentially on nutrition dynamics and rejuvenate the body and the mind. The present study has been carried out to assess the effect of Guduchyadi Rasayana3 on Agnibala4, Dehabala5 and Sattvabala6 on elderly individuals. 138 patients were registered to the study and divided in to two groups. The drugs were prepared as granules form and administered three times per day and continued for three months. Result of the study revealed that the trial group obtained statistically sig- nificant improvement in the signs and symptoms of Agnibala, Dehabala and Sattvabala on elderly individuals. Information for Ayurveda Practitioners for Prophylactic, Symptomatic Management of Suspected and Diagnosed cases of Mucormycosis Government of India Ministry of Ayush Drug Policy Section Information for Ayurveda Practitioners for Prophylactic, Symptomatic Management of Suspected and Diagnosed cases of Mucormycosis Preamble India has been battling with a significant rise in COVID-19 cases in the second wave. A severe and rare fungal illness, Mucormycosis also known as “black fungus”, affecting some coronavirus patients is causing a double blow to the country. Mucormycosis infections are more severe in people with comorbid conditions like Diabetes, Hypertension etc. and immune- compromised state. Because of the increase in the number of patients with this deadly infection, many states have declared Mucormycosis as an epidemic and has become a matter of huge concern. Mucormycosis is classified mainly into five types depending on the part of the body affected. The clinical features described of Rhino-orbito-cerebral Mucor mycosis are similar to Raktaja Pratishyaya and Krimija Shiroroga (unilateral facial swelling, Headaches, Nasal congestion, Nasal discharge, Fever etc). Presentation of Pulmonary Mucor mycosis are very much similar to Kshayaja Kasa, (Cough with pericardial chest pain, foul smelling, greenish, purulent, mucoid and blood stained/ haemoptysis sputum and cough associated with fever (Jvaro-mishrakriti) or chest pain (Parshvaruka) or recurrent coryza (Pinasa) are the clinical features found in Pulmonary Mucourmycosis. The Gastrointestinal Mucormycosis can be included under the spectrum of Udara roga especially Sannipatika udara roga and pathogenesis of Disseminated mucormycosis in later phase can be compared with Dushtavrana where as Cutaneous mucormycosis can be correlated with Kushtha and Visarpa. -

Guru Har Rai ji’s sakhis. (The helper of the world) Once a householder Sikh came to see Satguru Sri Guru Har Rai ji, maharaj the king of kings and the saint of saints, and narrated his problem: "O True King, I had a son who grew into a promising young man. He is dead now. I had hoped that he would take over the responsibilities of the household, and that I will come and stay in your service to earn salvation at your door. But my hopes have been shattered. What should 1 do in this plight? This is troubling me constantly." "Tell me how many members are there in your family, and what do you do to make a living?" asked Guru Ji. "O True King, there are two younger sons and a daughter, besides their mother. I am the fIfth. With regard to livelihood, whatever I earn, is used to feed us all," replied the Sikh. "If you are really keen to serve the Guru, start right away. Leave their care to God. He will look after them. Detoxification and Traditional Hatha Yoga(New)
Detoxification in Hatha Yoga and Ayurveda By Mas Vidal Introduction The Hatha Yoga Pradipika (HYP) is a unique text of the Nath yogis that enumerates some interesting methods for purifying the body. Swami Svatmarama, the chief disciple of Swami Goraknath authored it during the medieval period. Evidently, Matsyendranath, founder of the Nath (synonym for Shiva) cult along with Goraknath understood clearly the importance of mind- body purification as requisites for spiritual evolution and thus created a six-fold system (shat- karma) of detoxification. This popular yoga text is composed of four chapters. In brief, the first chapter deals with postural yoga (asana); chapter two deals with the six actions of purification (shatkarma and pranayama); chapter three describes the physical gestures and energy locks (mudras and bandhas), and chapter four discusses spiritual liberation (samadhi). The placement of the shat-karmas (purification practices) in the second chapter prior to the last chapter on samadhi (liberation) indicates the importance of having a clean bodily house to attain spiritual freedom. This article highlights the correlation the detoxifying actions described in chapter two of the HYP with those mentioned in the main Ayurvedic text, Charaka Samhita. Interestingly, the HYP methods have much in common with those used in Ayurveda, yoga’s sister science of self-healing. Similarly, Ayurvedic mastermind Charaka, devised a five-fold system (pancha karma) for purification of the doshas (vata, pitta & kapha) to improve the mind-body relationship. The concept of detoxification, which boldly appears in both yoga and ayurvedic systems, demonstrates a long history of inter-connectedness between the two sciences. -

Introduction to Hatha Yoga CLASS-VI 3 Notes INTRODUCTION TO HATHA YOGA Hatha yoga is an ancient spiritual yogic practice. The word 'Hatha' is composed of two syllables 'Ha' and 'Tha' which denote the 'Pingala' and the 'Ida', the vital and the mental, the solar and the lunar energies in the human system. It is the science of creating a harmony between these two energies within us so as to help us to achieve a higher consciousness in life. Classical Hatha yoga has five limbs, which are; ¾ Shatkarma:This is the six purificatory or cleansing practices, namely; • Neti • Dhauti • Basti • Nauli • Kapalbhati • Trataka OBE-Bharatiya Jnana Parampara 39 Introduction to Hatha Yoga CLASS-VI ¾ Asana: This is the physical postures. It is to gain steadiness of body and mind, freedom from disease and the lightness of limbs. Notes ¾ Pranayama: This brings the purification of the Nadis, The experience of the Pranic field, increase in the quantum of Prana and eventually leads the mind into meditation. ¾ Mudra: This is a gesture which controls and channelize the Prana (life force) in a particular way. ¾ Bandha: This means to lock or to stop. In the practice of a Bandha, the energy flow to a particular area of the body is blocked. Maki 2 June, 1998 Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, Padmakara, or Tsokey Dorje, was the guru predicted by the Buddha Shakyamuni to bring the Buddhist Dharma to Tibet. In the land of Uddiyana, King Indrabhuti had undergone many trials, including the loss of his young son and a widespread famine in his kingdom. The Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara felt compassion for the king, and entreated the Buddha Amitabha, pictured directly above Padmasambhava, to help him. From his tongue, Amitabha emanated a light ray into the lake of Kosha, and a lotus grew, upon which sat an eight year old boy. The boy was taken into the kingdom of Uddiyana as the son of King Indrabhuti and named Padmasambhava, or Lotus Born One. Padmasambhava grew up to make realizations about the unsatisfactory nature of existence, which led to his renunciation of both kingdom and family in order to teach the Dharma to those entangled in samsara. Over the years, as he taught, other names were bestowed upon him in specific circumstances to represent his realization of a particular aspect of Buddhism. This thangka depicts Padmasambhava, in a form also called Tsokey Dorje, as a great guru and Buddha in the land of Tibet. -
