Leominster is 12.8 miles away and offers many amenities and attractions. The Cathedral city of Hereford is 19 miles away and has both an old centre and a new one with a wider selection of shops. There are many small villages with outstanding black and white 15th century timber framed dating from the wool boom and the affluence created. There are several castles dating back to the Norman conquest with many of the market towns still having their medieval quarters intact. One of the nearest villages to Keepers House is Pembridge with pubs, cafés and a good restaurant. Notably the New Inn pub which was built in 1380. The church is from early Christian days and the names of the vicars are carved into an oak board since the 1400s.The charming old market town of Ludlow is 20 miles away with its Norman castle, medieval town centre and a local market several times per week. The small market town of Hay-on-Wye is also close by with a 900 year old castle and around 40 book shops. It is also the centre for the renowned Hay Literature Festival held annually in May.
