Backing Up Data

Before loading the HeadMaster upgrade, close the HeadMaster application and make a backup of your data. Label this backup “HM (your current version number).”

To make a backup

1. On the Windows , click Start > Programs > HeadMaster > Utility Manager. 2. Enter your User Name and Password and then click OK. 3. Click Create Backup. 4. Click Browse and select the location where you want to save your backup. 5. Click Backup.

Installation Requirements

HeadMaster has the following installation requirements:

You must be on HeadMaster 9.0.1.1 or later to upgrade to the latest version. - HeadMaster supports Windows® 2000 or later. To load the upgrade, you must be logged in as an administrator. Web browser - To use the context-sensitive and dynamic help, you must have Microsoft ® 6.0 or higher. * * Internet Explorer does not have to be the default browser. If you plan to import data from ACS® to HeadMaster, both programs must be installed on the same computer.

Loading Instructions for Network Users

Perform the following procedures to load the upgrade on your and HeadMaster workstations.

Network Loading Instructions - Server

You must be on the physical server machine to load the upgrade on the server.

To load the upgrade on a stand-alone PC

1. 1. In the current release notes, click the Downloads link, and then enter your user name and password. 2. On the HeadMaster Autorun menu, click Upgrade HeadMaster. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

If the HeadMaster Autorun menu does not display

1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Run. 2. Type D:\Setup.exe and click OK. If your CD-ROM drive is different, substitute the appropriate letter. For example, type D:\Setup.exe. 3. Click Upgrade HeadMaster and follow the on-screen instructions.

Network Loading Instructions - Workstation

If connected to the database directory, the first time a workstation user logs in to HeadMaster, the user is prompted to load the upgrade. However, you can upgrade each individual workstation before users ever log in. This is useful if you have users who do not have administrative rights to their workstations.

To upgrade a workstation before users log in

1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Run. 2. Type D:\HMaster\Setuphm.exe and click OK. If the \HMaster directory is on a different drive, substitute the appropriate letter. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions. 4. After HeadMaster finishes loading, make another backup of your data. Save this backup on a separate set of disks or other storage media, such as a hard drive or ZIP disk. Label this backup “HM (upgrade number).” After loading the HeadMaster upgrade, you cannot restore your earlier HeadMaster version backup without the assistance of HeadMaster Support.

Single User Loading Instructions

Perform the following procedure for stand-alone PC upgrades.

To load the upgrade on a stand-alone PC

1. In the current release notes, click the Downloads link, and then enter your user name and password. 2. On the HeadMaster Autorun menu, click Upgrade HeadMaster. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
