Call for Entries Green Eye on Western PA Juried Photography Exhibition to Benefit GASP

GASP is currently accepting entries to our juried photography exhibition. Photos must be taken in western and have an environmental message. This could be a celebration of nature, an exposure of the effects of humans on the environment, or any other theme that has a relationship to appreciating and/or protecting our environment. This is an open juried exhibition for photographers of all ages. See next page for detailed entry information and entry form.

Meet the Jurors paul g wiegman Important Dates: Photography has been a lifelong passion for paul wiegman, a native of Deadline for Entries: Western PA. Linda Benedict-Jones Location: Coca Café Linda Benedict-Jones was appointed the first curator of photography 3811 Butler Street of the newly created department of photography at the Carnegie Mu- Lawrenceville seum of Art beginning in December 2008. Group Against Smog and Pollution (GASP) is a non-profit citizens’ group in southwestern Pennsylvania working for a healthy, sustainable environment. Founded in 1969, GASP has been a diligent watchdog, educator, litigator, and policy-maker on many environmental issues, with a focus on air quality in the Pittsburgh region.

This could be a celebration of nature, an exposure of the effects of humans on the environment, or any other theme that has a relationship to appreciating and/or protect- ing our environment. Eligibility: This will be an open Juried Exhibition for photographers of all ages. All submitted works must be original and not being currently displayed in any other exhibition. Image Submission Requirements: Digital entries may be submitted by emailing to [email protected] or on CD mailed to GASP, 5604 Solway Street, Suite 204, Pittsburgh, PA 15217. Images may also be submitted as standard 35mm slides. All slides and CD’s must be labeled with the artist’s name and title of the work. Slides/CD’s will be returned if the photographer has provided a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage. Requirements for Display: All entries accepted by the juror must be suitably framed and wired ready for hanging. Mats must be ei- ther white, cream, or gray, while liners may be in color. The framed work may not exceed 24” by 24” and must be marked with artist’s name and title of work. Accepted works must be delivered to the Coca Café on September 8, 2009, times to be announced. Alter- nate delivery to the GASP office in Squirrel Hill can be made by special arrangement with the exhibition organizers. All pictures must be picked up from Coca Café at the completion of the show, dates and times to be announced when entries accepted. Notification of Acceptance: All entrants will be notified whether or not their work was accepted for the exhibition by email. If no email address is available, please provide a self-addressed stamped envelope for notification. Prizes: Prizes to be awarded at the discretion of the jurors. Sale of Work: Photographers may list their work for sale and will be notified of any work sold during the exhibition. A 25% com- mission will be retained by GASP so prices should be set accordingly. The sold work may not be released before the closing of the exhibition. Jury Fee: A $30 non-refundable fee must accompany your entry form and must be postmarked on or before July 24, 2009. The fee entitles the photographer to up to 3 entries. Please make your check payable to GASP and mail with the entry form to 5604 Solway Street, #204, Pittsburgh, PA 15217.
