GEORGIA TECH - WEDNESDAY, DEC. 6, 2017 - WOFFORD BASKETBALL ▶ STAFF MIKE YOUNG HEAD COACH • EMORY & HENRY, 1986 • Wofford’s Division 1 wins leader - passed former coach and current Athletic Director Richard Johnson in 2016-17. Trails all-time leader Gene Alexander by 21 games. • Young holds an overall record of 252-230 (.523) and is 146-117 (.555) in SoCon games. • Young passed 250 career wins in the win over Bob Jones on Nov. 18, 2017. • In 2017-18, the Terriers were picked to finish sixth by the coaches and fifth by the media in the Southern Conference Preseason Poll. • At Wofford, Young has coached 18 all-conference players, including current player Fletcher Magee who was First-Team All-Conference in 2016-17 and the SoCon Freshman of the Year in 2015-16. • He has led Wofford to three regular season titles and four SoCon Tournament Championships and NCAA Appearances. • He was a 3x SoCon Coach of the Year and the 2009-2010 Hugh Durham National Mid- Major Coach of the Year. • Second All-Time in wins by a SoCon Coach, trailing just Bob McKillop of Davidson. • In his tenure at Wofford, Young has wins over Auburn, Cincinnati, Clemson, Georgia, NC State, Purdue, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Xavier and Wake Forest.

ON THE BENCH JAY MCAULEY ASSOCIATE HEAD COACH • GEORGIA, 2006 • McAuley, who played at Georgia, returns to Wofford after four seasons at Furman. • He was previously at Wofford for two seasons from 2008-2010 and was a part of Wofford’s first SoCon title. The Terriers went 26-9 on the season and 15-3 in Southern Conference play en route to winning both the regular season and tournament titles. • Prior to Furman, McAuley spent three seasons at Gardner-Webb on Chris Holtmann’s (currently head coach at Ohio State) staff. • McAuley, a Marietta, Ga. native, played four seasons at the University of Georgia and was on the 2008 team that won the SEC Tournament. He played in 17 games his junior season and was a co-captain in his senior campaign.

KEVIN GILTNER ASSISTANT COACH • WOFFORD, 2012 • In four years coaching at Wofford, Giltner has helped guide the Terriers to their third and fourth Southern Conference Tournament championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. Giltner was also a part of the previous two champion- ships as a player, helping the program win its first as a sophomore in 2009-10, and it’s second as a junior in 2010-11. • Works primarily with Wofford’s guards and has coached Eric Garcia, Fletcher Magee and Nathan Hoover to Socon honors. In 2016-17, Giltner coached three guards to All-Conference accolades. Fletcher Magee and Eric Garcia were both named First-Team All-SoCon as Wofford was the only conference team to place two players on the First-Team. Nathan Hoover was named to the All-Freshman team, Wofford’s fifth All-Freshman team member in the last six seasons. • He spent the 2012-13 season playing professionally for Keflavik in Reykjanesbaer, Iceland.

WILL MURPHY ASSISTANT COACH • WAKE FOREST, 2013 • Murphy was hired on June 16, 2017 as the Director of Basketball Operations and was elevated to Assistant Coach in October of 2017. • Murphy began his career at his alma mater, Wake Forest. Last season, he was the Director of Player Development for the Demon Deacons. • Prior to his stint as the Director of Player Development, Murphy spent three seasons as the Video Coordinator and Direc- tor of Technology and Scouting. Murphy, a native of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, spent three and a half seasons as a student manager for the Wake Forest staff before joining the active roster as a walk-on guard in December of 2012.

Spartanburg, S.C. – Wofford men's basketball players Fletcher Magee and Cameron Jackson were named preseason All-Southern Conference selections by the 10 league coach- es, as announced by the Southern Conference office on Wednesday morning. Wofford was picked to finish sixth by the coaches and fifth by the media.

The Mercer Bears (71) have been tabbed as the preseason favorite by the coaches, edging out Samford by a single point (70). Furman was picked to finish third with 65 points and ETSU was right behind in fourth with 64 points. UNCG earned 64 points to come in at fifth. Wofford came in at sixth with 43 points. The Citadel (27) and Chattanooga (27) tied for seventh, Western was picked ninth (22) and VMI was picked 10th (9). Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams or student-athletes as part of the balloting.

Wofford was one of three schools to place two members on the preseason team, along with Furman and Samford. It is the first year Wofford has had atleast two players on the preseason team since Wofford placed three in 2014-15.

Magee, a 2016-17 First Team selection, was named to the Preseason All-Conference team for the second straight year. The native of Orlando led Wofford with 18.6 points per game and was third in the conference in the same category. He made 112 three pointers, setting a new Wofford record for made three's in a season. His 112 made three's was a conference best and his three point field goal percentage of 42.3% was seventh in the SoCon. The junior shot 89.3% from the free throw line, second best in the conference and 15th nationally. Magee had double-digit points in all 33 games and started all but one contest, Wofford's senior night.

For Jackson, also a junior, it is the first Southern Conference honor. Jackson finished 2016-17 third in the conference in field goal percentage (58.8%), sixth in blocked shots (0.9 per game), 10th in steals (1.3 spg), 13th in rebounding (5.7 rpg) and 18th in scoring (12.6 ppg). The native of Winchester, Va. started 30 of 33 contests and was third in scoring for the Terriers.

Furman's Devin Sibley, the reigning Southern Conference Player of the Year, was named the Preseason Player of the Year. Teammate Daniel Fowler joined him on the presea- son team. Samford placed Demetrius Denzel-Dyson and Wyatt Walker on the team. ETSU's Desonta Bradford, The Citadel's Preston Parks, the reigning Freshman of the Year, Mercer's Ria'n Holland. And UNCG's Francis Alonso Jr. round out the preseason team.
