MESSAGE FROM: SHRI AMRISH R. PATEL Honorable President, SVKM “Dear All! I am very happy to learn that the students of N. M. College are bringing out a compilation of success stories of their Past Students in diverse careers and especially as entrepreneurs on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the College. The subject N.M.of Entrepreneurship COLLEGE is very dear to my heart, having become an entrepreneur at a young age myself. In a vast nation like ours the role of entrepreneurship in creation of jobs, generation of revenue for the Government and the overall benefit of society can never be over-emphasized. More particularly entrepreneurship results in an immense satisfaction for the entrepreneur and not just the wealth that he creates. Narsee Monjee College has over the years lived up to its name and created leaders and success stories in various fields of business. It is very encouraging that the present batch of students has excellent ideas and ambitions for the future. I once again convey my best wishes on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the College.” AMRISH R. PATEL (President, SVKM) N.M. COLLEGE MESSAGE FROM: SHRI SHALIN DIVATIA Honorary Joint Treasurer, SVKM “My Dear Nmites, I was amazed when I came to know of the success story of NMites in diverse fields including that of business and that too in different parts of the globe. This compilation of some of those success stories is an eye-opener for the younger N.M.generation exemplifying COLLEGE that the purpose of education is to create a platform for exploring the humongous possibilities that life unfolds and is not meant to be a narrow channel in which one navigates ones career. The experiences of the past students will no doubt serve as a guiding force for unleashing the creativity, energy and potential of the present batch of students at NM College as well as various other alumni who have passed out and read this compilation. I would like to convey my congratulations to the Alumni whose success has been mentioned but I am sure that there would be many more equally inspiring stories of other NMites that we still may not be aware of. I would request all the Alumni to come back to College and share their experiences and help make our own NM College better and better with each passing year. On behalf of SVKM, I compliment the students who have taken efforts in this compilation and their energy and enthusiasm. Undoubtedly, they will fulfill their aspirations in the times to come. Best wishes to you all on the Golden Jubilee of NM College.” SHALIN S. DIVATIA (Honorary Joint Treasurer, SVKM) N.M. The ultimateN.M. objective of initiating COLLEGE this Entrepreneurship Cell is to arrange for finance and other requirement of making these business plans successful. The basic idea behind this publication is to spread awareness amongst student of the college that N. M. has more than C. Discontent over low pay, disgruntled workers affiliated to National Union of Furniture & Al- lied Workers SA (NUFAWSA) union block- aded the road in the proximity of the factory with burning tyres and debris, restricting other workers not to enter the factory premises. These workers claimed their salaries of R11, 65 per hour does not reflect their work and demand better working conditions and fairer pay. Among their grievances was a lousy R1.17 in- crease offered by the company while they had requested for an increase of at least R5 per hour. According to a shop steward, Senzi Mathon- jwa, the strike was sparked after a failed agree- ment by the company’s management to pay them an increase of R5. These workers, consisting mainly of breadwin- ners and single parents, said their earnings are not enough to cover for basic needs and sup- port their families.
