The 11 acre site is divided into 4 quadrants, aligned approximately north-east, north-west, south-east and south-west. Rectangular in plan, it is bordered on all sides by a stone wall. Two identical mortuary chapels stand in the northeast quadrant; the Church of chapel to the east, and the Roman Catholic chapel to the west. Access is via a pair of iron gates in the south wall (from Bohermore Road). An attractive gatehouse stands to the east of the gates. The gates, railings and walls, the two mortuary chapels and the gate house are all listed in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage. Most of the cemetery is densely filled with nineteenth and twentieth cen- tury headstones, ledger slabs, pedestal tombs and crosses of different styles. The cemetery is very well cared for and maintained by . Individuals interred in Bohermore are included in the Galway City Cem- etery Register of Internment. The current register, copies of all historical reg- isters and a copy of the layout plan of the cemetery are held in the cemetery site office.
