During this trip he met Adolf Ellegard Jensen, Eike Haberland, Helmut Straube and Elisabeth Pauli, with whom he collaborated and conducted joint research. He habilitated in 1958 with a study on the cultur- al geography of the southern Ethiopian lake region. In 1963 he took up a professorship at the Department of Geology in Bonn, where he continued his agricultural geographic studies in south- ern Ethiopia. He was consultant and chairman of the geograph- ical evaluation team of the German Research Foundation before he retired in 1985. He died in 2002 in Bonn. LANGE, WERNER JÜRGEN (*1946) Werner Jürgen Lange’s interest in Ethiopia began when he was studying for his MA in anthropology and psychology at the Ohio State University, from which he graduated with a thesis on the political systems of southwest Ethiopia. He subsequently joined the Frobenius Institute as Eike Haberland’s PhD student. He took part in the sixth and last research expedition to Ethio- pia. Funded by the German Research Foundation he carried out research among the Kafa and Sheka in 1972 and 1973. He afterwards received two further years funding from the same foundation to finish his dissertation at the Frobenius Institute. He also worked on an inventory of photographs taken during the expedition and of the 300 ethnographic objects collected. In 1975, having received his PhD from Frankfurt University for his dissertation Gimira. Remnants of a vanishing culture, he left Germa- ny for the USA. INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENTIFIC & TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH VOLUME 6, ISSUE 07, JULY 2017 ISSN 2277-8616 Historical Survey Of Limmu Genet Town From Its Foundation Up To Present Dagm Alemayehu Tegegn Abstract: The process of modern urbanization in Ethiopia began to take shape since the later part of the nineteenth century. The territorial expansion of emperor Menelik (r. 1889 –1913), political stability and effective centralization and bureaucratization of government brought relative acceleration of the pace of urbanization in Ethiopia; the improvement of the system of transportation and communication are identified as factors that contributed to this new phase of urban development. Central government expansion to the south led to the appearance of garrison centers which gradually developed to small- sized urban center or Katama. The garrison were established either on already existing settlements or on fresh sites and also physically they were situated on hill tops. Consequently, Limmu Genet town was founded on the former Limmu Ennarya state‘s territory as a result of the territorial expansion of the central government and system of administration. Although the history of the town and its people trace many year back to the present, no historical study has been conducted on. Therefore the aim of this study is to explore the history of Limmu Genet town from its foundation up to present. Keywords: Limmu Ennary, Limmu Genet, Urbanization, Development ———————————————————— 1. The name Limmu Ennarya is The history of Limmu Genet can be traced back to the rise derived from a combination of the name of the medieval of the Limmu Oromo clans, which became kingdoms or state of Ennarya and the Oromo clan name who settled in states along the Gibe river basin. -

ETHIOPIA JIMMA-MIZAN ROAD UPGRADING PROJECT (Project Number: P- ET- DB0 – 011) ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT SUMMARY 1. Introduction The Jimma-Mizan road upgrading project is one of the main road projects included in the Ethiopian Government’s 10 Years Road Sector Development Programme – (1997- 2007). This development programme is designed to improve and expand the country's road network in order to stimulate the economy for long term development. It is recognised that agriculture is the backbone of the economy and particular importance is placed on the development of this sector by the removal of the transport constraints facing the sector. This explains the decision to upgrade the deteriorating Jimma-Mizan road to provide market access to agricultural products and facilitate agricultural export particularly coffee produced in the project zone of influence. Road upgrading is likely to cause negative and positive impacts on the environment.The ESIA study for the Jimma-Mizan road project seeks to explain the biophysical features of the existing Jimma-Mizan road, to describe proposed realignment road sections and to assess potential positive and negative impacts of the whole Jimma-Mizan road upgrading project. It also proposed appropriate solutions to avoid or minimise any adverse impact that may result from the project during and after the upgrading process. The African Development Bank (AfDB) categorised this project as a Category 1 project, which is subjected to an ESIA. The Environmental Policy of Ethiopia (EPE) also includes ESIA policies in the cross-sectoral environmental policies and requires a project of this nature to prepare an ESIA study. -

Country Information and Policy Note Ethiopia: Opposition to the government Version 1.0 December 2016 Preface This note provides country of origin information (COI) and policy guidance to Home Office decision makers on handling particular types of protection and human rights claims. This includes whether claims are likely to justify the granting of asylum, humanitarian protection or discretionary leave and whether – in the event of a claim being refused – it is likely to be certifiable as ‘clearly unfounded’ under s94 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002.
