GARY KUBIAK HEAD COACH – 22Nd NFL Season (12Th with Broncos)

GARY KUBIAK HEAD COACH – 22nd NFL Season (12th with Broncos) Gary Kubiak, a 23-year coaching veteran and three-time Super Bowl champion, enters his third decade with the Denver Broncos after being named the 15th head coach in club history on Jan. 19, 2015. A backup quarterback for nine seasons (1983-91) with the Broncos and an offensive coordinator for 11 years (1995- 2005) with the club, Kubiak returns to Denver after spending eight years (2006-13) as head coach of the Houston Texans and one season (2014) as offensive coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens. During 21 seasons working in the NFL, Kubiak has coached 30 players to a total of 57 Pro Bowl selections. He has appeared in eight conference championship games and six Super Bowls as a player or coach and was part of three World Championship staffs (S.F., 1994; Den., 1997-98) as a quarterbacks coach or offensive coordinator. In his most recent position as Baltimore’s offensive coordinator in 2014, he oversaw one of the NFL’s most improved and explosive units to help the Ravens advance to the AFC Divisional Playoffs. His offense posted the third-largest overall improvement (+57.5 ypg) in the NFL from the previous season and posted nearly 50 percent more big plays (74 plays of 20+yards) from the year before he arrived. Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco recorded career highs in passing yards (3,986) and touchdown passes (27) under Kubiak’s guidance while running back Justin Forsett ranked fifth in the league in rushing (1,266 yds.) to earn his first career Pro Bowl selection.

Strawser Stacie Shain Alexandria Thompson Katie Vulich Crystal Simons Bellarmine University Abstract In January 2015, the Indianapolis Colts informed the National Football League of suspicion of ball deflation by the New England Patriots in a playoff game. What followed was a multi-year battle between the NFL, a “model” franchise, and one of the league’s most polarizing players, Tom Brady. John Fox Fires Back at Jim Irsay Over Peyton Manning Bashing

John Fox fires back at Jim Irsay over Peyton Manning bashing By Mike Klis The Denver Post October 15, 2013 Broncos coach John Fox. Broncos coach John Fox fired back at Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay on Tuesday in defense of Peyton Manning. Irsay earlier implied in an interview with USA Today that he wanted to move on from Manning’s “star wars” stats and start winning more Super Bowls. Fox, on his weekly appearance on NFL Sirius radio on Tuesday with Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan, was asked about Irsay’s comments. “I saw the comments. And to be honest with you, I thought it was a bit of a cheap shot,” Fox said. “To me, in my opinion, they were disappointing and inappropriate. “Peyton would never say anything. He’s too classy to do that. They sounded a little ungrateful and unappreciative to me. For a guy who has set a standard, won a Super Bowl, won four MVP awards… be thankful of that one Super Bowl ring, because a lot of people don’t have one.” Irsay, among other quotes, said in reference to Manning’s time with the Colts: “(Tom) Brady never had consistent numbers, but he has three of these,” Irsay said. “Pittsburgh had two, the Giants had two, Baltimore had two and we had one. That leaves you frustrated.” Here’s a link to Fox’s radio interview. PROP. 3 --> The Super Bowl III Problem: A review of the development of the property right in live professional sports broadcasts and a practical application of copyright law to an infringement action for the unauthorized reproduction and distribution of a taped broadcast of Super Bowl III by Chris Garmire ∗ I. Introduction “Outlined against a blue-gray October sky, the Four Horsemen rode again. In dramatic lore they are known as Famine, Pestilence, Destruction and Death. These are only aliases. Their real names are Stuhldreher, Miller, Corwley, and Laden.”1 The preceding quote is perhaps the most famous article lead ever written about any sporting event. The subjects of the article were the legendary Four Horsemen of Notre Dame coached by the immortal Knute Rockne.2 The horsemen, along with other sporting heroes of the twenties, such as the “Galloping Ghost” Red Grange and Babe Ruth, became more than mere sportsmen; they became transcendent myths. The fearsome horsemen in reality weighed an average of 164 pounds.3 Grantland Rice’s portrayal of these rather small football players as Goliaths of the gridiron transformed them into mythic heroes equivalent to the Knights of the Round Table in the popular imagination. Rice’s writing style, along with the tremendous popularity and following that it attracted was indicative of the creation of a new right in intellectual property; a property right in the description and dissemination of the accounts and narrations of sporting events through publication and broadcast. Although professional baseball began licensing World Series broadcasts as early as 1921,4 the decade of the twenties was the decade of the print sportswriter.
