Netball South Primary Zones Tournament Policy

General

 The Netball South Primary Zones Tournament will be run annually. The date will be set in October of each year. If schools/ zones have any requests for dates they need to be in prior to this.  Each Primary Zone will be able to enter up to THREE (3) teams from each of the age groups.  Each year will be run as a separate section. No Year Six players can play in the Year Five section and no Year Eight players can play in the Year Seven section. Players can play up a year e.g. Year Five players can play for a Year Six team. NB: Exceptions to this rule may be allowed at the discretion of the Community Netball Manager.  It is the school / zone’s responsibility to organise trials, teams, coaches and umpires. It is suggested that schools within a zone take turns at organising this.  Teams that withdraw in the two weeks leading up to the tournament will be fined $50

Selection of Teams

 A player may only play for the zone which the school they attend is associated with.  There must be a trial which all schools in the zone are to be notified of.  Zones with one school in their zone must still run trials to give those players that do not play club netball for the school a chance to represent their zone e.g. A student may attend a town school but still play their club netball in the country. Therefore if the school does not have trials this player misses out.

Team Requirements

 Each team may register a maximum of twelve players. (Registrations forms will be sent out prior to the tournament each year)  At the Year 5 & 6 level, there is no restriction on boys in playing positions or numbers on court.  At Year 7 & 8 level, each team may have a maximum of three boys on the court at a time. These boys will not be allowed in the goal circle together.  Each zone is to provide an umpire for each team entered.

Games

 The length of the games will be decided once entries have been received and the number of teams in each section determined.  As per Netball ruling no player shall play more than sixty minutes per day.  Year Five teams will play with the Future Fern goal which measures 2.6m and use a Size 4 ball. It is not compulsory to rotate players but Netball South strongly

encourages teams to allow all team members to receive equal court time ie GA position may also play GS,WA etc to continue the development of all players in the tournament teams.  Year Six teams do not have to rotate, poles will measure 3.05m in height and a Size 5 ball is to be used.  General rules of the tournament will be sent out with the draw a week before the tournament.
