SUBJECT: CONFIRMATION OF TREE PRESERVATION ORDERS ______

1.0 PURPOSE OF ARTICLE

1.1 To inform Members of a Tree Preservation Order.

2.0 BACKGROUND

2.1 The Borough Planner has power to authorise the making of Tree Preservation Orders. Under this authorisation, the following Orders have been made:

TPO (No.11) 2011 – Land, rear of 30-32 Parliament Street, Up Holland.

Plans showing the locations of the trees concerned are annexed to this report.

3.0 SUSTAINABILITY

3.1 By encouraging and promoting appropriate management of trees and woodlands the Council can influence the benefits that trees may provide which include:

x Enhancement and maintaining the environment through nature conservation by providing wildlife habitats.

x Reduction of the ‘Greenhouse’ effect by removal of carbon dioxide from the air and release of oxygen.

x Improving and maintaining air quality by acting as natural filters.

x Visual enhancement by acting as screening between the built environment.

x Reducing noise pollution particularly along roads.

The Council received no objections and the above Orders have therefore been confirmed.

5.0 FINANCIAL AND RESOURCE IMPLICATIONS

5.1 There are no significant financial or resource implications arising from this article.
