I can’t help thinking of the clash between British and Japanese motorcycle manufacturers in the 1960s. The sad fact is, Triumph, Norton, BSA, etc. all knew how to build better motorcycles; they just refused to do it. The British manufacturers refused to spend money on R&D and – as long as the public was willing to buy poorly built bikes based on outdated designs – they got away with it.
