Issigeac

Issigeac, an invitation to travel. In a formerly wooded area, cereals are now cultivated, alongside a sprinkling of vineyards producing H4 and Bergerac AOCs. Rising above this landscape, you’ll see a bell tower... That of Issigeac.

This medieval town is the exception in the midst of all the neighbouring bastides. Within its ancient circle of ramparts, its lanes spiral in like a snail, leading you to discover a village of character where shadowand light intermingle with wood and stone, and where the lanes and alleys bring the past to life. While strolling through this labyrinth, you may admire medieval stone houses intertwined with picturesque wood-panelled houses unlike any others in the Périgord. These houses, built in the 14th and 15th centuries, have maintained the authenticity and finesse of their architecture, lending originality to this town.

Tours available: Groups and individual clients: Guided tour of the village ‘Histoire et Architecture’ (‘History and Architecture’).
