Ievan polkka hatsune miku Continue Ievan Polkka (Polca de Eva in Savo) is a Finnish folk song based on traditional music, the lyrics of which were written in the early 1930s by Eino Kettunen. The song tells the story of a young man and Eev/Eve/Eve, who wade to where everyone dances polka and dance all night. Due to its viral exposure in popular culture, Ievan Polkka has become one of the most famous Finnish songs in the world. Very popular after World War II, the song was almost forgotten in the 1970s and 1980s. It became popular again after a performance by the a cappella of the Finnish quartet Loituma, which they first released on their debut album, Loituma, in 1995. The album was released in the United States as Things of Beauty in 1998. The a cappella version of the song gained great international popularity as part of an internet phenomenon in the spring of 2006 when Loituma Girl (also known as Leekspin), a flash animation of anime girl Orihime Inoue from the Bleach spinning leeks series associated with Ievan Polkka performed by Loitum, was published Russian LiveJournal. The animation uses only the second half of the fifth stanza (four lines) and the sixth full stanza (eight lines). It became a worldwide hit, and the song was soon hugely popular as a ringtone. The song was also covered by several Japanese vocalists, such as Megurin Luca and Rin and Len Kagamine, although perhaps the most famous version is The Micou Hatsun's version in 2007. Its popularity was used in Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA 2 as a music tutorial and in the video game Just Dance 2016. It was also used in advertising to promote the LG G5 smartphone. In 2012, Finnish band Korpiklaani recorded a version for their album Manala. After the decline in popularity, it was revived by the Finnish band Loituma in the 1990s, and in 2007 the cover of Otomania was released, Hatsune Miku and is accompanied by a video illustrated by Tamago. At the time, there was a popular internet meme called Leekspin, which was based on the orihime Inoue animation from the Japanese manga Bleach Twirl Negi to the endless loop of the 5th stanza Ievan Polkka. Riding on the popularity of the meme, the cover of Hatsune by Miku Ievan Polkka became her first popular work. Since then the song has been covered countless times by other Vocaloids; There are many versions, including solos, duets and even a quartet imitating the original. The accompanying cover video of Mika Ievan Polkka depicts Hachuna Miku (はちゅねミク), an empty doll, like a chibi version of Miku. In the video, she waves a negi (also called a Welsh bow or spring bow) in time to the music, creating a negi as Miku's signature item. Many Vocaloid fans take the Tiges for leeks; however, although the negi do resemble leeks, they are two completely different vegetables. Many are mistaken in the title for Levan Polka, thinking that Capital i is the lower register l.
