Civil Engineering and Development Department Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme and Vacation Training Scheme 2021 General Requirements: (1) Applicants should be currently enrolled in full-time courses of post-secondary institutions locally or overseas . (2) Applicants’ subjects of study for each post are specified (if any) below. (3) Applicants should be fluent in both Cantonese and English. (4) Applicants should produce transcripts issued by the appropriate authority of their post-secondary institutions certifying their academic status in the institutions; and relevant certificates showing the results of English and Chinese languages in public examinations. Allowance: HK$10,500 per month Terms of Successful applicants will be engaged under non-civil service appointment terms. Engagement: How to Apply: (1) Completed application forms with copies of all academic transcripts at post-secondary institutions and relevant certificates such as certificates of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination, the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination and other public language examinations (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, GCE and GCSE etc.) showing the results achieved in English and Chinese languages in such examinations, should be forwarded to the following address on or before the closing date of application. Please specify on the envelope ‘ Application for Summer Intern ’. If candidates fail to provide the required documents as requested by 14 May 2021, their applications will not be considered. (2) In view of the time required in overseas mailing, overseas applicants are advised to e-mail their completed application forms with the required supporting documents to [email protected] . (3) Each applicant should at most apply for ONE post. Otherwise, the applicant will not be considered. (4) Applications that are incomplete, late or without photocopies of academic transcripts and relevant certificates will also not be considered. (5) To facilitate communication, applicants are reminded to provide their e-mail addresses and contact telephone numbers on their application forms. (6) Selection interviews are not required and successful applicants will be notified separately. It is therefore important that you affix sufficient postage to mail items addressed to this Department to avoid any possible non-delivery. - 2 - Vacancy Details Job Title: Post 1 – Summer Intern (Landscape Division) Entry Requirements: (a) Year 2 or above in Landscape Architecture Degree Course or Year 1 or above in Landscape Architecture Master Degree Course is required; (b) Basic knowledge of local plant identification is required; (c) Knowledge of ArcGIS, GIS and database management is a merit; and (d) Green card is preferred. Duties: To assist professionals in the office including occasional field works on:- (i) slopes re-vegetation and landscape treatments (ii) landscape works for infrastructure projects (iii) works related to Tree Preservation and Removal Proposals and tree risk assessment and management (iv) in-house R&D on performance of native plant species and setting up photo album for internal reference (v) ad-hoc works as assigned Normal Place of Work: Homantin and occasional site/ field visits Internship Period: 8 weeks starting from July 2021 Job Title: Post 2 - Summer Intern (Public Relations Unit) Entry Requirements: (a) Year 2 or 3 in Bachelor Degree in New/ Creative Media or Advertising/ Communication Design is required; (b) Skills in graphic/ illustration design, photo/ video editing and desktop publishing are preferred; and (c) On top of the required supporting documents, submission of brief portfolio of design/creative work, if any, is welcomed. Duties: To update IT inventory records and training courses coordination Normal Place of Work: Civil Engineering and Development Building (CEDB), Homantin Internship Period: 8 weeks starting from July 2021 - 3 - Job Title: Post 4 - Summer Intern (Survey Division) Entry Requirements: (a) Year 2 or 3 in Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics Degree Course or equivalent is required; and (b) Green Card is required when reporting for duty. Duties: (1) To assist in the land surveying activities in Survey Division (2) To assist in the application and development of advanced survey technologies in Survey Division. (3) To assist in the application and implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technologies in Survey Division. (2) To assist in compiling data of water quality for the CMMS report.
