The mystery of ‘The Parting Pot’ part two... CHARITY CHAMPIONS Following on from our initial enquiries and investigations regarding ‘The Parting Pot’ (a former Ibstock public house) we have received the following information from Mr and Mrs Pettitt. In 1971, newly-weds, Mr and Mrs Pettitt moved into a cottage in Charity Champion Ibstock’s Chapel Street. It was situated in the row where the Ibstock Gun and Tackle shop now conducts its business. If they recall correctly, their cottage had previously belonged to a Steve Meadows lady by the name of Mrs Partner, who had lived there since she was born. keeps on running, The opposite end of the row to the fishing tackle shop is believed to be the site of a bowling alley, which formed part of ‘The Parting Pot’ establishment. The adjoining house appears to have formerly climbing, cycling been the lounge and the Pettitt’s house to have once housed the public bar area. About a third of the floor in the Pettitt’s property was covered with and... even bog old quarry tiles, which they presume was the area behind, or around, the bar. There were clear signs that there had once been a door, snorkelling for through into the room next door, which had subsequently been blocked up when the row was separated into domestic residences. The middle house, occupied by Mrs White, contained the cellar. charity! When Mrs White died it was found to contain a large quantity of antique bottles with marbles in the necks.
