    ONTEORA CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT DISTRICT WIDE SAFETY PLAN 2021-2022 Introduction Emergencies and violent incidents in school districts are critical issues that must be addressed in an expeditious and effective manner. Districts are required to develop a District-Wide School Safety Plan designed to prevent or minimize the effects of serious violent incidents and emergencies and to facilitate the coordination of the district with local and county resources in the event of such incidents or emergencies. The District-Wide School Safety Plan is responsive to the needs of all schools within the district and is consistent with the more detailed emergency response plans required at the school building level. School districts and other educational agencies stand at risk from a wide variety of acts of violence and nature, and man-made or technological disasters. To address these threats, the State of New York has enacted the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE) law. Project SAVE is a comprehensive planning effort that addresses risk reduction & prevention, response, and recovery with respect to a variety of emergencies in the school district and its schools. The Onteora Central School District (CSD) supports the SAVE Legislation. The Superintendent of Schools encourages and advocates on-going district-wide cooperation with, and support for, Project SAVE. 1 Section I: General Considerations and Planning Guidelines Purpose The Onteora CSD District-Wide School Safety Plan was developed pursuant to Commissioner’s Regulation 155.17. Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation (CHG&E or the Client) is proposing to rebuild the existing 69 kilovolt (kV) H and SB transmission lines (H and SB Lines) located between Catskill in Greene County and Kingston in Ulster County, New York. Rebuild of the H and SB Lines (the Project) will generally occur within an existing 150-foot-wide right-of- way (ROW), be built to 115 kV requirements, and spans approximately 23.6 miles through the City of Kingston, the Towns of Ulster, Saugerties, and Catskill, and the Village of Catskill. Approximately 1.2 miles of the H Line route is proposed to be relocated to avoid a sensitive environmental resource area designated by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation as the Great Vly Wildlife Management Area. Throughout the remainder of the H and SB lines, the rebuild project will remove and replace all structures, insulators, electrical conductors, associated transmission components of the existing H and SB 23.6-mile long ROW with the exception of 24 structures that will be retained.
