1.2 Transportation

1.2.1 Accessibility around Singapore from SUNTEC Singapore

The Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT) system is probably the fastest way to get around Singapore besides taxis. Besides being one of the cleanest transport systems in the world, the SMRT provides scenic views of our heartland and city areas, with great access to almost every part of Singapore. With the newly opened Circle Line servicing 30 stations, visitors will be able to shorten their travelling time and walking distance to their destinations. SUNTEC Singapore will be in close proximity with 2 of the new stations namely Promenade and Esplanade which will grant further accessibility and convenience to the participants of the conference. You can download the train route map from www.smrt.com.sg and use it to navigate your way around our island city.

There are also many bus services directly outside SUNTEC Singapore such as 36, 97, 106, 111, 133, 501, 502, 518, 857 and 700. These bus routes cover many parts of Singapore which enhance the accessibility of SUNTEC Singapore around Singapore.

Not to mention, taxis are readily available at the Taxi Stands outside SUNTEC Singapore which can bring you to your destination conveniently and efficiently at affordable rates.

With this efficient transport network, you could visit places like , , Mustafa Centre, Bugis Street, Chinatown, Little India, Kampong Glam, Lau Pa Sat, Clarke Quay & Riverside Point as well as most of the museums within 5 train stations!

3 FUSION 2012 @SINGAPORE

Alternatively, places like the Merlion, Singapore Flyer, Esplanade, Fountain Terrace, Sky Garden, Millenia Walk, Raffles City Mall and Marina Square are within 10 to 15 minutes walk from SUNTEC Singapore.

Now you can discover more of the rich cultural heritage of Singapore, shop in a Shopping Paradise and enjoy the sumptuous spread of local delights and international cuisines in this Food Paradise – in a breeze!

1.2.2 Accessibility of SUNTEC Singapore to & from Changi Airport

1.3 Conference Dinner

Cruise along the followed by Conference Dinner

Dinner Venue

Located along the Singapore River and just outside of the bustle of the city, the elegant Grand Copthorne Waterfront Singapore offers luxurious accommodation with excellent hospitality.

Pre-dinner Cocktail & Dinner will be held at the Grand Ballroom. Its distinguishing feature is the large, elegant glass wall that showers the ballroom with natural tropical light, through which one can view an exquisite landscaped garden and gazebo.

Enjoy a scenic ride along the river that holds so much history and memories for Singapore

Quite relaxing, especially after sunset. Just sit back and absorb the cool breeze. Brightly light sky-scrappers that tower over the river, historical monuments regally positioned, adding grandeur and age-old charm to the area and of course, the beautiful evening sky sprinkled with stars.

There are many bridges in Singapore and the river taxi ride is a good way to see the bridges. Have a good view of the (and understand why it is so popular with tourists), as well as the beautiful sights of the Fullerton and Clark Quay, before disembarking at the conference dinner venue.

6 FUSION 2012 @SINGAPORE

2 Conference Dates

The proposed conference dates is from July 09-12, 2012 (tentative subjected to ISIF board recommendation). It is observe that out of the past 13 FUSION conferences, 8 of these are held during the second week of July.

Singapore is located near the equator. The average temperature is about 30 - 32 degree Celsius, and most of the time (year round) there is sunshine. The rainy months are usually at the end of the year (Nov, Dec, early Jan months).

From the evaluation of the dates of past Fusion Conferences and the climate in Singapore, this justifies the feasibility for the FUSION 2012 conference to be held in Singapore from July 09-12, 2012.

In addition, during this period of time, there are no major events in Singapore to clash with FUSION 2012, and hence the delegates would be able to book hotel rooms and transportation easily. Also, usually there would be no major conferences during this period of time that would conflict with FUSION 2012.

The museum's centerpiece is a huge 360-degree multimedia theatre, where visitors "board" an Arabia-bound sailing ship docked near Singapore 1,100 years ago. Laden with cargo, the ship runs into a storm. The sea roars, the skies darken and the ship rolls, pitches and turns. Lights dim as the vessel sinks, with "passengers" also experiencing that sinking feeling as the theatre floor descends. When the lights finally come on, the passengers find themselves in the depths of the ocean, up close with the shipwreck and magnificent marine life. http://www.rwsentosa.com
