The Big Apple – Stanthorpe QLD – is a tribute to all the apples grown around the Stanthorpe area.

The Big Barramundi – Daintree QLD – is a testimonial to the most desired fish in the State.

The Big Bull – Rockhampton QLD – Rockhampton is renown for its beef production, the beef capital of Australia.

The Big Captain Cook – QLD – Initially designed to be used as a mascot for a public bar, the measurements were mixed up and it turned out a lot bigger than expected.

The Big Cassowary – Mission Beach QLD – is a tribute to the endangered bird that can be found in the Word Heritage Rainforest in the area.

The Big Crab – Miriam Vale QLD – in honour of the famous Queensland Mud Crab by immortalising one in the form of a sculpture to adorn the local petrol station.

The Big Easel – Emerald QLD – is the second in a series of ‘Big Easels’. Finished in 1999 and is found in the centre of the city.

The Big Gumboot – Tully QLD – originally a rubber boot was awarded to the wettest town in Australia, a title completed by Tully, Innisfail and Babinda. it stands 7.9m high, which represents the record annual rainfall of the town (7,900mm) in 1950.

Simple Living. Creative Learning Australia’s Big Icons The Big Macadamia – Woombye QLD (near ) – found on the Sunshine Plantation, a tourist theme park where you can eat nuts, ride the Macadamia Nutmobile and is next to the Big Pineapple.

The Big Mandarin – Mundubbera QLD – is the town’s tourist information centre and stands 9m high. Mundubbera is the (self-titled) Citrus Capital of Queensland.

The Big Miner – Rubyvale QLD – is found at the Bobby Dazzler mine which is also home to three other big things – the Big Spanner, Big Sapphire and the Big Pick and Shovel.

The Big Orange – Gayndah QLD – There are two Big Oranges (other at Berri, SA). Gayndah is known as the orange capital of Queensland and this orange is located at the tourist information centre.

The Big Peach – Anna Bay QLD – is a local and family owned business that has been selling, for over 50 years, fresh produce that is grown on the property.

The Big Peanut – Atherton Parklands – QLD – fronts a Peanut Fruit Shop. Not exactly large as peanuts are small, but it wears a hat and a big smile.

The Big Pelican – Noosa QLD – Noosa is famous for its gorgeous beaches. This structure at Noosa has movable parts that can be operated from the inside.

The Big Pineapple - QLD – This big pineapple is known well in the surrounding area and is perched on the roof of a vacant petrol station.

The Big Pineapple – Woombye QLD (near Nambour) Simple– stands Living. Creative 12m tall Learning at the entrance to the Sunshine Plantation where lots of information about the tropical fruit industry can be found. Australia’s Big Icons The Big Shell – QLD – is home to a collection of shells, corals, and coloured sand.

The Big Stubbie – Tewantin QLD – is created from thousands of beer bottles and stubbies being concreted in to the shape of one big stubbie.

The Big Arch of Victory – Ballarat VIC – opened in 1920 and is funded by the female staff at Eleanor Lucas’ Lingerie Factory.

The Big Earthworm – Bass VIC – represents the Endangered Giant Gippsland Earthworm that is renown in the Bass area.

The Big Koala – Dadswells Bridge VIC – stands 14m tall, weighs 12 tonnes and is made of bronze set on a steel frame Sculptor Ben Van Zetton was hired to design and construct the piece in 1988.

The Big Milkshake – Warrnambool VIC – resides in a town famous for delicious milkshakes and its dairy industry. Stands 8m tall and can be found at Cheeseword in Allansford, Vic.

The Big Murray Cod – Swan Hill VIC – the Murray River provides great fishing and water sports at Swan Hill. The giant fish is 11m long and 6 m wide. It was once a movie prop before being placed adjacent to the railway station on Curlewis Street.

The Big Ned Kelly – Glenrowan VIC – Glenrowan was the place where Ned Kelly, the infamous Australian bushranger, had his last shootout.

Simple Living. Creative Learning Australia’s Big Icons The Big Root – Nowa Nowa VIC – a natural wood sculpture. It is the root system of a Messmate – Eucaluptus obliuqa. The tree grew in one metre of sandy loam on top of a limestone shelf, but when the roots failed to penetrate the limestone, they grew laterally. The height of the root system is 4m while the width is 7m. The tree root is known as ‘Ra’ (the sun god) and is housed in a specially built timber pyramid house at Mingling Waters.

The Big Wool Bales – Hamilton VIC – The five structures replicate five wool bales which represent the value of the wool industry in the area. The wool bales for a building which contains an array of wool-related displays.

The Big Axe – Kew NSW – resides over the Tourist Information Centre, 2km north of Kendall at Kew.

The Big Banana – NSW – stands 5m high by 11m long. It is located out the front of the gift shop which is surrounded by a Banana Plantation. This structure was the very first of Australian’s ‘Big Things.’

The Big Bottle – Mangrove Mountain NWS – is nestled away in the Mangrove Mountains and is a statue in the form of a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Big Cheese – Bega NSW – doubles as a tourist service centre. You can purchase food and other items from the cheese and honey staff; ice cream parlour and gift shop.

The Big Cherries – Young NSW – is found in Young, NSW which is known as the Cherry Capital of Australia. You can pick and pack cherries from the 1st November through to New Years. Simple Living. Creative Learning Australia’s Big Icons The Big Chook – Moonbi NSW – located in Moonbi, approximately 21km northeast of Tamworth . Moonbi is the largest poultry producing area in NSW outside the capital city.

The Big Dog on a Tuckerbox – Gundagai NSW – built in 1932 and is a tribute to the famous lyrics of Jack Moses’ song, “Five Miles from Gundagai.”

The Big Fruit Bowl – Bilpin NSW – found in a town famous for its apples. Many tourists driving from Richmond up to Kurrajong, stop in here to purchase apples or apple juice.

The Big Gold Panner – Bathurst NSW – is found in front of the Gold Panner Motel and resides, approximately, in the town that recorded the first discovery of gold in 1823.

The Big Golden Guitar – Tamworth NSW – Located in Australia’s country music capital. Stands 12m high and weighs half a tonne. It was unveiled by Slim Dusty in 1988.

The Big Guitar – Narrandera NSW – can be found at the visitors centre in Narrandera. It stands almost 6m long and is the world’s largest playable guitar.

The Big Kookaburra – Kurri Kurri NSW – Standing 4.5m it is used as a logo for several sporting and community organisations in the town. It was built by Pokolbin artist Christ Fussell from aluminium and steel scrap.

The Big Merino – Goulburn NSW – is a testament to the huge wool- growing industry in the area. It stands 15m high and is 21m long. Australia’s Big Icons The Big Oyster – NSW – it sits onto of a building. It was created by the same people that created the Big Prawn at Ballina.

The Big Potato – Robertson NSW – is located in a town known for its rich soils and rolling landscape. The good soil, rainfall and winter climate has made it a prominent potato growing area.

The Big Prawn – Ballina NSW – stands 6m by 9m. It encompasses a gift shop and eateries. It is a tribute to the big seafood market in the area.

The Big Rock – Barrington Tops NSW – is a unique ‘big thing’ as it was not man-made. It can be found in the Barrington Tops National Park.

The Big Rock – Pacific Highway, Tea Gardens NSW – Built by the Leyland Bros, it is now owned by Outdoor Education – a charity organisation that runs bush camps for Australian youth. It houses ‘The Pieman,” an award winning, 24 hr, gourmet pie shop and service station.

The Big Trout – Adaminaby NSW – located in a highly popular destination for trout fishing.

The Big Wine Cask – Buronga NSW – is 8m high, 11m long and 7m wide and can apparently hold up to 400,000 litres of wine. It was originally a water-purifying plant for the winery.

The Big Buffalo – River NT – Known as ‘Charlie’ the star of Crocodile Dundee I and II.

The Big Croc – Humpty Doo NT – stands outside a petrol station, with boxing gloves and a fighting stance. Simple Living. Creative Learning Australia’s Big Icons The Big Galah – Kimba SA – found outside the Halfway Across Australia Gem shop on the Eyre Highway. Situated in a town famous for its Australian Wildlife, this statue stands 8m high. The Big Lobster – Kingston SA – located at a port famous for its lobsters. Stands 18.2m high and houses a restaurant and gift shop.

The Big Miner – Kapunda SA – depicts a ‘Cornish Miner.’ The statue is a tribute to the Kapunda Mine established in 1844 which was the first successful metal mine in Australia. It was unveiled in 1988 and is called Map Kernow, which in Cornish translates to ‘Son of Cornwell.’ The Big Orange – Berri SA – found in the area that is home to the Berri Fruit Juice manufacturers. It is set amongst the citrus orchards.

The Big Rocking Horse – Gumeracha SA - located by an expansive Toy Factory, it stands at 18.3m high and contains three observation decks. The Big DNA – Perth WA – a huge staircase found in Kings Park which overlooks the CBD of Perth.

The Big Orange – Harvey WA – sits proudly on a 10m tower, with an extra 4m to be climbed to reach the viewing platform. Inside local history and photos can be seen.

The Big Ram – Wagin WA – stands 7m high and 15m long.

The Big Penguin – Penguin TAS – is a tourist attraction located in Penguin which is home to hundreds of Fairy Penguins. Is rumoured to be the largest penguin in the world.
