FA Vase Winners: 2002, 2009, 2010, 2011 WHITLEY BAY FC BW3 Welcome to Hillheads WHITLEY BAY v BLYTH SPARTANS

NORTHUMBERLAND SENIOR CUP 2ND ROUND REPLAY Tuesday 20th November 2012

Good evening and welcome to Hillheads Park for tonight’s Northumberland Senior Cup Replay against Blyth Spartans. I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all Blyth players, officials and supporters. I hope they enjoy their evening with us. Last Tuesday’s game at Croft Park ended in a goalless draw but it was far from the dull game that the score might suggest. Both sides created chances in what was a thoroughly entertaining encounter in front of a good size crowd. Let’s hope for plenty of excitement again tonight and remember, the game must produce a winner this evening, even if the tie has to be decided by the dreaded penalties! Local derbies always create extra excitement for the fans and with several of tonight’s players having played for both sides over the years, it is a game that both teams will be particularly keen to win. Saturday’s FA Vase game against Jarrow Roofing was not a classic but we got the all important win to get our campaign underway. At this stage of the competition in previous seasons we have had to grind out victories against the likes of Abbey Hey, Alsager and Thackley before producing top quality performances in the later rounds. After tonight’s game, we travel to Consett on Saturday before returning to Hillheads for what will be a very tough game against league champions Spennymoor Town next Tuesday evening.
