CALIFORNIAN BANDS: Music is their lives By Marie & Mélisande The Doors The Doors is an American rock band formed in July 1965 in Los Angeles, California and disbanded in 1973, two years after the death of singer Jim Morrison. Despite a rather short existence, The Doors is one of the most influential groups in rock history, and his music has influenced many artists. Affiliated with the psychedelic rock scene, the group distinguished by a protean music borrowing from both blues, funk, jazz but also to flamenco. It is influenced by art and poetry. A cult band The Doors. Guns N' Roses: Guns N 'Roses is an American Hard Rock band formed in 1985 in Los Angeles. Led by singer Axl Rose, it became a very few years one of hard rock's most popular, with over 100 million albums sold worldwide, including 43.5 million in the U.S. The group born from the merger of three members of the group LA Guns (the lead guitarist Tracii Guns, bassist Ole Beiche and drummer Rob Gardner) with 2 members of Hollywood Rose (singer Axl Rose and rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin), so the name Guns N 'Roses. Van Halen: Van Halen is an American hard rock band founded in 1972. The band's guitarist, Eddie Van Halen, quickly became famous for its technical prowess and musical sensibility. It was especially inspired a new wave of "Guitar Hero" with popularizing the technique of "tapping ". Their first singer David Lee Roth has become a real showman. From 1978 to 1998 the band released eleven albums, all returned to the Top 20 on the Billboard 200. In 2007, the group made its debut at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Red Hot Chili Peppers: Red Hot Chili Peppers (commonly abbreviated as Red Hot or RHCP) is an American rock band formed in 1983 in Los Angeles. Their music blends elements of mainly rock and funk, with influences from punk, metal and rap. After the tragic death of guitarist Hillel Slovak in 1988, they began to write lyrics deeper, along with more complex melodies and searched. In nearly twenty-five year career, the band has recorded nine studio albums which have sold more Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Californication, released in 1991 and 1999 respectively. Rage Against The Machine: Rage Against the Machine is an American metal band formed in 1990 in Los Angeles. Their music is mainly a fusion of metal and rap with funk and punk influences. Comprised of musicians with a strong personality like Zack de la Rocha, Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk, the group will mark the 1990s until its dissolution in 2000. It was reformed in January 2007 for the festival Coachella.Rage Against the Machine is mainly characterized by rhythmic lyrics. In early 1980 the group reached the dedication with his album Toto IV, but the U.S. media are unleashed against the formation. However, it remains popular in Europe and Japan. Deftones: Deftones is an American metal band formed in 1988 in Sacramento, California. Their music combines power and often singing clear and air is considered by the press as the basis for the nu metal style which they were the leaders with Korn. But they turned away from a voluntary to play a more independent music, mixing modern metal and new wave tinged electro. KoЯn: Korn is an American metal band founded in 1993 in Bakersfield, north of Los Angeles. He is considered one of the pioneers of nu metal groups, which developed in the 1990s in the United States. Their new album, Korn III: Remember Who You Are is released July 12, 2010, and marks a return to wide source for the group, so much so that you can see Jonathan Davis again in underwear and jogging in Adidas the first clip in this album and in concert, attire he has abandoned the release of their album Follow The Leader. Linkin Park: Linkin Park is an American alternative rock band formed in 1996 in Agoura Hills, California (United States). It is composed of singers Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda. They experienced a worldwide success on their first album in 2000, Hybrid Theory, has sold over 24 million copies worldwide, and ranked diamond disc by the RIAA. Their second album, Meteora, was released in 2003, and certified multi-platinum in many countries, consolidated their position as leading group. Their latest album, the concept album A Thousand Suns, was released September 14, 2010, is considered as a new start for the band. System of a Down: System of a Down (sometimes abbreviated to SOAD or System) is an American alternative metal band formed in 1993 in Los Angeles, and composed entirely of musicians of Armenian origin. The group made five albums and sold over 25 million copies worldwide. They were appointed to four Grammy Awards, and they won one in 2006 in the "Best Hard Rock Performance". The group announced to pause August 13, 2006. November 28, 2010, they announced on their website their reunion for a series of concerts in Europe in June 2011. The Offspring The Offspring is an American punk rock band formed in 1984 in Huntington Beach, California, by Dexter Holland and Greg Kriesel (Greg K). The Offspring has been considered by the press as embodying the revival of punk rock in the United States in the mid-1990s. They made eight albums, two compilations, four EP, three DVDs and twenty singles. Each album since the release of Smash Epitaph Records has sold over a million copies, except Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace with only 800,000 copies were sold. Green Day: Green Day is an American Pop punk trio, originally from Oakland, California, formed in 1987. The group was made up for most of his life of singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool. To date, Green Day have sold over 65 million albums worldwide, including over 22.5 million albums in the United States. They have garnered numerous awards including four Grammy Awards (Best Alternative Album for Dookie, Best Rock Album for American Idiot, Record of the Year for Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Best Rock Album for 21st Century Breakdown). Avenged Sevenfold: Avenged Sevenfold is a group of California metalcore and heavy metal (often abbreviated to A7X) based in Huntington Beach in 1999, composed of M. Shadows, Synyster Gates, Zacky Vengeance, Johnny Christ and Arin Ilejay. It "replaces" The Reverend, a former drummer who died December 28, 2009. Drummer Mike Portnoy has also helped the group to record their latest album Nightmare and to ensure the tour until the end of December 2010.The group has long been a mainstay of California's underground scene. Hollywood Undead: Hollywood Undead is a group of American Fusion (Rap / Metal) hidden from Los Angeles formed in 2005. Their last album was released April 5, 2011 under the name "American Tragedy". The single "Hear Me Now" was released December 21, 2010 and February 5, 2011 at midnight, the band launches a new song from their latest album, called "Comin 'In Hot". Members are characterized by the fact that they are all singing. However, everyone sings a different way (rap, screaming, etc ...)
