He attends Carnegie Mellon University where he just finished serving as president of his fraternity as well as holding a position on his rugby club team, and his future plans include working on a research co-op in Boston, MA. Bill says, “Don't hesitate to give your all this week. Take this week as a chance to learn about those around you, learn about Louisiana, and learn about yourself. Remember that this is truly a unique place, and if you give it your all, LYS can really be a life changing experience.” Dana Dugas, Assistant Program Director. Dana grew up in Mandeville, LA and attended Mandeville High School. She recently graduated from LSU earning her Masters of Science in Accounting in May of 2015. Dana currently works within the auditing division at Deloitte & Touche LLP in New Orleans. While in undergrad, Dana was Vice President-Membership in her sorority. She says, “My favorite part about LYS is the support delegates and staff devote to one another. At LYS, you have the opportunity to be in an environment surrounded by people who want to help you to succeed. I love when delegates are proud of themselves for accomplishing something special!” Ian Doran, Medical Staff Assistant. Ian graduated from Woodlawn High School here in Baton Rouge, and proceeded to complete nursing school at Southeastern Louisiana University. Ian is currently working as a Registered Nurse at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, and he is involved in the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) and is a part time local musician (keyboards/singer). Ian says, “My favorite part of LYS, even since I was a delegate myself, has always been seeing delegates discover remarkable leadership qualities in themselves and others that they never would have even considered before. The transformation I see from day one until the end of seminar never ceases to amaze me!” MJ Losso, Staff Assistant. MJ graduated from University Laboratory School here on LSU’s campus. She is a graduate of Tulane University with a degree in Neuroscience, where she was also involved with the Tulane University Neuroscience Association and Tulane Hospital Stroke Research Team. MJ just finished a year-long internship with a neuro-opthalmologist in Dallas, Texas, and she will be attending medical school in Michigan in the fall! MJ says, “Every day presents an opportunity to be your best LYS self. From using effective communication skills to taking the responsibility of being a leader even when it's most difficult and always remembering there is a motto to guide us, "No Man is an Island." Annelise Bertrand, Staff Assistant. Annelise hails from Lafayette where she graduated from Lafayette High School. She recently graduated from LSU with a Kinesiology major where she also served as the Vice President-Membership for her sorority and was involved AED, the pre-medical honor society. Annelise believes that while at LYS, one should “Let go and take advantage of this amazingly unique program. Great things come when you let your guard down and let LYS take you away.” Haggai Davis, III, Staff Assistant. He was apart of the LSU Rowing Team, involved with the LSU Society of Physics Students, and worked on research into Low Mass XRay Binaries in the Galactic Bulge. Morgan shares, “I know this sounds crazy, but when I was a delegate, I didn't even bring my phone to seminar. Each year, I turned it off and locked it away in my closet at home, not to see it again until I returned home. That being said, my advice to the delegates is: put down your phones. Spend every waking second that you can with the people around you, rather than those on your phones. At no other time in your life will you be surrounded by such a diverse, inspiring group of individuals - take advantage of the opportunity that is this special week!” Will Syll, FIVE YEAR, Staff Assistant. Will is a graduate from St. Paul’s School in Covington and now attends LSU where he is actively involved in Greek Life, Beta Alpha Psi honor society, and habitat for humanity. He is also currently serving as intern at Deloitte and Touche LLP in Austin, TX. What Will loves most about LYS is “The completely unique atmosphere. You won't find a more diverse group of talented people in a more open environment anywhere. When the typical social pressures of the real world are lifted it's amazing how much you can grow as a person in such a short time.” Caroline Grand, FIVE YEAR, Staff Assistant. Caroline is a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy in Baton Rouge. She currently studies biology at LSU, where she holds the office of chapter president of her sorority. She has hopes of attending dental school following her graduation. “What I love most about LYS is that LYS reflects Louisiana’s best, and I would want all of the delegates to remember that as they enter this program. LYS does not reflect one specific person in a delegate or a counselor- that is what makes it so special. There is absolutely no equivalent to the empowerment one can gain amidst this program; give yourself to seminar wholeheartedly. So many of the friendships I hold so dear are the ones that were fostered during seminar.” Will Barnett, FIVE YEAR, Counselor, Baserunners. Will is originally from Covington, LA and graduated from St. Paul’s School. He now resides in Oxford, MS where he attends the University of Mississippi and majors in Studio Art. He is also involved in Ole Miss Greek life and philanthropy. Will says, “My favorite part of LYS is being part of Louisiana's best. I love to see the growth and love that delegates gain from the program in just one week. You can learn so much from yourself and those who will be around you during seminar. Zach Barnett, FIVE YEAR, Tory Party Chair. Zach is a native from Covington, LA and graduated from St. Paul’s School. He now attends LSU where he is actively involved in both Student Government and Greek Life. Zach’s advice to delegates is, “While at seminar, don't be afraid to try new things and talk to people to as many people as you can. You will make new kinds of friendships that will last a lifetime in only a week!” Gracie Reaux, FIVE YEAR, Whig Party Chair. Gracie is a graduate of Lafayette High School and currently attends LSU where she is involved in TriDelta, Student Government, Order of Omega Greek Honor Society, the Graphic Design Student Association, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. In her free time, Gracie loves to paint, travel, and go on adventures. Her most recent travels brought her to England, Scotland, and all over Ireland! Gracie says, “My biggest hope for the delegates is that they come to love being servant leaders so they can carry that giving mentality with them throughout all aspects of their life and really learn to love No Man Is An Island as much as I do! It truly has the ability to change your life if you choose to live by it.” Conner Bueche, FIVE YEAR, Counselor, Outfielders. Conner grew up in Baton Rouge and attended Catholic High School. He now attends Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL where he is involved in many organizations including serving as the Student Government President, holding an Internship with Congressman Garret Graves, acting as a Spring Hill College Ambassador, and earning the Servant Leadership Award.
