Angus Cook-Off Winners at 2021 Canadian Junior Angus Showdown

Rocky View County, AB—Canadian Junior Angus is pleased to announce the Showdown 2021 Angus Cook-off Competition winners. Awards were presented at the Showdown banquet on Friday, August 27 in Olds, AB.

Overall first place team was awarded to Team Classic Peyton and Sterling Christman of Okotoks, AB, Faith Collins of Beaverlodge, AB, Erika, Lexi and Logan Mathon of Red Deer County, AB and Liam and Michael Richards of Fort Saskatchewan, AB.

Contestants were evaluated on their ability to work as a team to prepare a dish featuring Angus beef. Participants were provided three steaks, a gas barbeque and utensils. Participants used their own spices and marinades as well as garnishes to present their dish. Points were awarded for the best dressed team, most original dish and best taste. Dishes were judged by Certified Angus Beef representative and Chef Dean Fadden, Business Development Specialist at Intercity Packers Meat & Seafood and Chef and of Team Koe, professionals.

Canadian Junior Angus is a group of Angus enthusiasts under the age of 21. Showdown is an annual summer cattle show organized by Canadian Junior Angus. It rotates to provinces throughout the country every July. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and travel challenges, this year events were offered both in person and virtually. 105 participants and 100 head of cattle took part in the 21st annual Showdown in Olds, .
