Having studied A Tour architecture at both McGill University of Architecture, Canada and at RMIT, Melbourne School of Design, she continued with specialist studies in the history and application of mosaic techniques in Ravenna. She is a in beautiful recipient of several awards and has completed large scale public art commissions, in painting, sculpture and mosaics. Her influence and expertise is recognised internationally. Giuliana Casadio Master of Mosaics bringing Giuliana lives and works in Ravenna. She graduated Master of Art in Mosaics, from the Art Institute of Mosaic Art and is both a respected artist and conservator of cultural assets in mosaics and painting. She has been the together technical director on a number of governmental research and restoration projects where she collaborates with specialists in the field of Byzantine, Greek Roman and Paleo-Christian mosaics. She has worked across the craft, peninsula where she has consulted on significant archeological mosaicfindings including the restorations for the city of Pompeii, 2018. history, and Jacquie Hacansson Jacquie was born in New Zealand and lives and works in Melbourne, Australia. She has achieved a reputation for adventure! originality and excellence across diverse glass works that include mosaics, leadlight, fused and fired forms. Her work is celebrated for its orginality and the virtuoso use of glass that links it to painting and sculpture. Her studio is a centre of creative energy in the community, where she exhibits, teaches and collaborates with other artists. TOUR HIGHLIGHTS DAY 1- Welcome to Fara Sabina! You will be met by our driver at Fara Sabina Montelibbretti;1hr 50min by train from ROME Fiumicino Airport, and driven directly to the charming family run Agriturismo Sant’Ilario. You will have time to unwind and relax in the beautiful surroundings before celebrating your arrival with a delicious traditional welcome dinner in the evening. DAY 2 - Meeting your Instructors After a relaxed in-house breakfast you will meet your instructors. Classes will be held in the Glass Studio where you will be introduced to the history and craft of mosaic art and be given the Rieti schedule for your 12 day workshop and tours. You will also begin the exciting work on the motifs and patterns that you will have selected for your mosaic. This a full day of classes. DAY 3 - Exploring Ostia Antica Join us on a day trip to Ostia Antica, an ancient, roman harbour, port-city on the Mediterranean. A guided tour will take us around this fascinating archeaological region, where you will see the beautifully preserved roman mosaics within these famous ruins. Farfa Abbey DAY 4 - Workshop day & crafting your mosaic. A full day in the workshop - 8 hours DAY 5 - Visiting Farfa Abbey & a Mayoral welcome. The day’s activities include a guided tour of the magnificent Abbazia of Farfa, one of the most famous abbeys of Europe. Afterwards we will be welcomed by the Mayor of Farfa at a delightful luncheon in a local taverna. DAY 6 - Workshop day & crafting your mosaic: A full day in the workshop - 8 hours DAY 7 - Workshop day & crafting your mosaic: A full day in the workshop - 8 hours DAY 8 - Visiting Rieti Explore the underground city of Rieti! We will be taken on a private tour of the wonders of the ancient View from Agriturismo Sant’Ilario archeological site. DAY 9 - Workshop day & crafting your mosaic: A full day in the workshop - 8 hours DAY 10 - Morning workshop and free afternoon: There will be a workshop in the morning and no formal classes in the afterrnon.You will have time to wander the surrounds and relax. Day 11 - The final touches! The days in the Glass Studio will be almost at an end. Add the final touchs to your mosaic during Mosaic and its craft the day, before enjoying a celebratory farewell dinner in the evening. DAY 12 - Arrivederci! This is the last morning at Agriturismo Sant’Ilario. After a hearty breakfast you will be driven to the station at Fara Sabina Montelibbretti where you will be able to catch the train back to Rome.

Please Note: We are excited to have you join the workshop and to ensure everything is ready for you on your arrival, you will be asked to select a pattern from a series of motifs 3months prior to starting. This will allow time for your instructors to order in and prepare all the necessary materials that are needed to complete your individual projects during the time of the workshop. Ostia Antica
