Section B YOUR COMMUNITY NEWSPAPER November 29, 2012 Local artists hand carve nature, Christmas creations By Vici Papajohn

Local artists Lolly and Phil Sandfort will be exhibit- ing their amazing hand crafted woodcarvings for one day only, December 1, on 12th Avenue in Pensacola. The former Just Plain Putter owners will return to their old site for a tent show of their limited edition pieces. Phil hand carves lovely, meticulously creative woodcarvings of Santa Claus, shorebirds, fresh and salt water fish, bird houses, song birds and more from solid blocks of mahogany. Lolly follows, creating beautiful, detailed paintings on each. The result is truly spectacular and one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Long-time residents, the couple owned Just Plain Putter for 30 years, and their creative juices added sig- nificantly to the success of the business as they helped clients choose just the right framing and matting. Their custom framing business also sponsored a Christmas Open House and show for over 10 years. Both enjoyed working with their hands – Lolly as the creative force, enjoying the discipline and dedication of her artistic painting, and Phil as an avid whittler, carrying a pock- Karen and Mike Jurkowich hosted journalists from Africa for dinner in their home.
