2021 Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of Tonyrefail & District Community Council, held on Thursday 21st June 2018 at the Council Office, Trane Cemetery, Tonyrefail which commenced at 6.30 pm. Present: Councillors: Mrs. Alexandra Davies-Jones (Chairman, Mrs. L. Michel, Messrs: Austin Davies, Andrew Davies-Jones, S. Stevens, G. Powell, D. Grehan, C. Wells, D. Owen-Jones, M. Barron (co-opted during the public break). Also in attendance: Pauline Williams – Clerk 1. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE 1.1 APOLOGIES SUBMITTED FOR APPROVAL None. 1.2 APOLOGIES NOT SUBMITTED No apology for absence was received from Councillor K. Godfrey 2. TO RECEIVE DISCLOSURES OF PERSONAL INTEREST See Minute No. 24 below. 3. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES It was RESOLVED: That the minutes of the Annual meeting together with the minutes of the May monthly meeting both held on Thursday 10th May, together with the minutes of the Policy & Finance committee meeting held on 21st May 2018 were confirmed as a correct record. 4. PUBLIC BREAK There were no members of the public present. 4.1 INTERVIEW FOR CO-OPTION OF COMMUNITY COUNCILLOR TYLCHA WARD Councillors were circulated with a copy of the Application Form for co-option from Mr. Barron. ‘ ’ An interview took place and it was unanimously RESOLVED: That Mr. M. Barron is co-opted as a Councillor for the above ward. Councillor Barron completed the Declaration of Acceptance of Office and took part in the remainder of the meeting. ‘ ’ 5. YOUTH REPRESENTATION ON THE COMMUNITY COUNCIL There was no youth representation at the meeting and the Chairman advised that she would speak to the school as this is a particularly busy time with exams taking place and that if there were any questions the Youths would like to raise to send them directly to the council Initials.................................................... -

Introduction to Staff Register
REGISTER OF INTERESTS OF MEMBERS’ SECRETARIES AND RESEARCH ASSISTANTS (As at 15 October 2020) INTRODUCTION Purpose and Form of the Register In accordance with Resolutions made by the House of Commons on 17 December 1985 and 28 June 1993, holders of photo-identity passes as Members’ secretaries or research assistants are in essence required to register: ‘Any occupation or employment for which you receive over £410 from the same source in the course of a calendar year, if that occupation or employment is in any way advantaged by the privileged access to Parliament afforded by your pass. Any gift (eg jewellery) or benefit (eg hospitality, services) that you receive, if the gift or benefit in any way relates to or arises from your work in Parliament and its value exceeds £410 in the course of a calendar year.’ In Section 1 of the Register entries are listed alphabetically according to the staff member’s surname. Section 2 contains exactly the same information but entries are instead listed according to the sponsoring Member’s name. Administration and Inspection of the Register The Register is compiled and maintained by the Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards. Anyone whose details are entered on the Register is required to notify that office of any change in their registrable interests within 28 days of such a change arising. An updated edition of the Register is published approximately every 6 weeks when the House is sitting. Changes to the rules governing the Register are determined by the Committee on Standards in the House of Commons, although where such changes are substantial they are put by the Committee to the House for approval before being implemented. -

Introduction: Dean Godson (Director, Policy Exchange) Ladies & Gentlemen, any Lords in the House? So egalitarian, sign of modernisation that there’s nobody from the peerage present! So the huge attendance, the queues snaking around here, are a sign that this is one of the most important, if not the most important, fringe of conference, and all of you know that this issue has been foregrounded, put front and centre of British politics today, the extraordinary set of developments whereby one of the most peripheral members of the Parliamentary Labour Party of the last thirty years now looks as though he’s a serious contender for No. 10 Downing Street. The rise in the broader world of academic writing and general more popular writing of work such as Thomas Piketty’s, and the feeling that the Right is generally on the back foot and that some of the most retrograde and backward-looking members of the Hard Left are now setting the tone of public policy with the theme of the seventies, of the idea of capitalism in crisis. And the common view has been expressed in much of the media that the Right generally is on the back foot, that we’re back to that famous conversation between Bernard Donoghue, Jim Callaghan’s Chief of the Policy Unit at No. 10 Downing Street and Jim Callaghan saying… Donoghue saying during the ’79 Election, ‘I think we might win,’ and Callaghan saying, ‘No, there is a fundamental zeitgeist shift and it is in Mrs Thatcher’s direction.’ And that is the question which is before us here today. -

JEREMY CORBYN Labour Women’s Network – Lead for Women questions 1) Will you aCtively defend the prinCiple and implementation of All Women Shortlists for both Parliamentary and Council seats, and support other positive actions measures where appropriate? Yes. In ‘Working with Women’ last year we set out the commitment to achieving 50:50 representation in Parliament and All Women Shortlists have been an important mechanism in increasing women’s representation in Parliament. I would like to see 50:50 representation across all public offices. Alongside this one of the points I made at the Gateshead hustings was that we need to look at mechanisms to increase our diversity, be reflective of society as a whole and increase our representation of all Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, disabled and LGBT people. To achieve this goal we need to increase the participation of women from all backgrounds, at every level of our party and in society. We should be aiming for a society where there is equal representation not just in Parliament, but also in our legal structures, in our media and culture and across our economy and industries. Investing £500billion to grow our economy will be the foundation to properly fund and to extend democratic control over our public services. Creating secure and better paid work and progressively moving towards universal childcare, free education and a properly funded social care system in particular can help remove barriers to women’s involvement and enhance the opportunities of all, but particularly women, to participate and to have a powerful voice in society and in our party.
