LIEUTENANT COLONEL LAURIE L. NEEDER Lt Col Laurie L. Needer is the commander of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Detachment 001, in Anchorage, Alaska. She is responsible for recruiting and overseeing the preparation and training of officer candidates through a comprehensive college program at the University of Alaska and three cross-town universities. Lt Col Needer earned her commission in May 2005 through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps upon graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology. She has served in a variety of positions at the Squadron, Group, Wing, and Major Command levels. While serving at Joint Base Andrews, Lt Col Needer provided global Special Air Mission airlift for the vice president, cabinet members, combatant commanders, and other senior military and elected officials. Lt Col Needer deployed multiple times including serving as the director of the International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) Airfield Flow Coordination Center and the Chief of ISAF Supreme Allied Powers Europe Air Mobility Command Center Liaison officer where she was instrumental in coordinating missions for 46 nations, tracking base capacity, and directing international distinguished visitor travel. Prior to her current position, she served as the Deputy Division Chief, Analysis and Future Programs Division for the Office of the Inspector General, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. As Deputy Division Chief, she was responsible for crafting inspection policy as well as planning and executing evaluations for 67 Active Duty, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve units. Lt Col Needer is a senior pilot with more than 3,000 hours in the C-17A and C-40B aircraft.
