Welcome! Here in Seaside, we don’t guard our secrets. We love to share and it’s easy to see why.

Surely you’ve noticed the view stretching from Tillamook Head to the Necanicum Estuary. Isn’t it something? For thousands of years this was the backdrop to daily life for countless generations of Clatsop Indians. Members of the Lewis and Clark party camped here in 1806, boiling seawater to make salt for the trip back home. %HQ+ROODGD\EXLOWWKHÀUVWUHVRUWLQEHDWLQJWKH beach craze by quite a few years. Of course, the beach wasn’t so sandy back then — you can thank the installation of the South Jetty in the early 1900s for that.

Nowadays Seaside is the ideal playground for kids and kids at heart. We’ve got arcades, bumper cars, LFHFUHDPDVKRRWLQJJDOOHU\DQGÁDYRUVRI saltwater taffy and counting. Although we’ve added swing sets and volleyball nets, the beach alone has drawn a steady stream of visitors for 150 years.

But what brings people back again and again is WKHFRPPXQLW\\RX·OOÀQGKHUH:H·YHÀOOHGRXU downtown with great restaurants, cutting-edge bakeries, comfy bookstores, brimming antique shops, creative galleries and historic properties.

Pet-Friendly Seaside Wide-open beaches and friendly, laid-back patios — what’s not to love for pets (and their owners) in Seaside? Dogs on leash are welcome at The Whet Spot, a taproom with 20 rotating craft beers and ciders. You can set out on a classic cruiser or tandem bike along the 1.5-mile (2.4-km) paved Promenade as well as the many streets downtown — it’s a favorite activity with families, seniors and everyone in between. If you’ve never tried riding a fat-tire bike on the WERH7IEWMHI´W½VQ¾EXFIEGLIW are a great place to try; you’ll encounter more resistance in sand than on paved surfaces, but it’s a great workout with incredible scenery. Gearhart Golf Links

+SP½RK Oregon’s North Coast is one of the oldest golf getaways on the West Coast, with the Scottish-style Gearhart Golf Links having been established in 1892. This windswept, 18-hole course set amid rolling coastal dunes features slick greens guarded by ample bunkers.
