EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES 5 Aside Championships: The first event of 2017 went off with a bang with 161 keen footballers taking part in the 5 Aside Football Championships. Cross Country: On Saturday 18th February a total of 87 runners from 14 clubs across and Wales took part in the National Cross Country Championships hosted by EBGC at Stubber’s Adventure Centre. The sun shone throughout the day and the temperature was ideal cross country running conditions. INTERNATIONAL TRIPS Exchange – The Causeway Exchange Programme has been developed and funded by Boys and Girls Clubs of Northern Ireland as a means of helping to strengthen and improve relationships between young people on the islands of Britain and Ireland. It was designed to contribute to the development of strategies aimed at diminishing misunderstandings. We wanted to focus on bridging cultural differences between participants and to overcome perceived stereotypes, prejudices and misunderstanding that may separate and divide young people from different cultural backgrounds. The week was a success with the participants taking part in team building activities games and challenges, leadership sessions, cultural visits and time to learn about one another's lifestyles. “A week that gave us the chance to explore, understand and connect with a different lifestyle. Gave us a chance to see the similarities and differences between our lives” Attendees: Connor Guy, Anjaly Patel, Angel Ager and Morgan Hopkins, Amiee Egerton, Callum Alexander, Katie Pullen, Amy Harris, Luke Doell, Sean Randall Nepal Adventure 11 NCS Graduates and club senior members from around the county have been selected to take part in the Nepal Adventure starting in August 2017. In the February half term, they headed to Maes Y Lade for a training weekend which involved climbing 3 mountains over 2 days, spending a day canoeing on the River Wye and completing a series of team challenges. Previous grants have funded boxing gloves, table tennis tables and pool tables.
