Frenchman looks to leave his mark in American Motorsports

SPARTANBURG, S.C.—While 2020 has been a whirlwind year for just about everyone in the racing industry, French race car driver Charles Lacarre has powered through it and used it as a stepping stone for 2021 and beyond.

Lacarre is a 21-year-old racecar driver based out of Nimes, France. Lacarre has been racing for over half of his life as he stepped behind the wheel of a car for the first time when he was just ten-years-old. That was when he received his first go-kart chassis. Lacarre was “bit by the racing bug” at eight when he was watching television and witnessed the “big one” at the 2008 NASCAR Cup Series race at Watkins Glen, which saw over ten cars involved in a mid-race pile-up. Lacarre regrets that he used to cheer for accidents during races, but he eventually grew out of that practice and has become a lifelong racing fan that is trying his hardest to break into NASCAR.

As 2021 slowly approaches, Lacarre is preparing for the opportunity of a lifetime as he gets to take part in the ARCA Menards Series annual preseason tests at Daytona International Speedway. Lacarre will test for longtime ARCA team owner . Prior to the test, Lacarre has already been approved to race at tracks under a mile and has several opportunities to race if funding is found. If Lacarre performs well in the test, it will upgrade his ARCA license to include both Daytona and Talladega.

Lacarre began in go-karts during his pre-teen years and after some success along with a scary crash in 2013 after an outing in Laval, France, Lacarre stepped away from karting to just focus on full-bodied race cars. Three months following the accident, Lacarre got his first taste of his lifelong goal. Lacarre ended up taking part in multiple tests at Le Mans as he looked for a chance to join the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series driver development program. This opportunity allowed the then 13-year-old Lacarre to adjust to the big bodied machines and test his own skills. While the tests didn’t lead to much, it set the groundwork for Lacarre’s future in racing.

Up to this point, Lacarre’s most memorable racing accomplishment was when he went on a stretch where he won six consecutive races during the 2019 V8 Oval Series season while racing for the Bachor Racing Team. Unfortunately, he could not finish the season due to a lack of funding. Following this venture, he had plans lined up to possibly run some NASCAR Whelen Euro Series races, but that was halted due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Lacarre’s goal is to be NASCAR’s French ambassador. Mostly everybody you see in NASCAR was born in America besides the few Canadians that are sprinkled through the garage. Lacarre wants to be the international face for NASCAR, and he hopes to someday accomplish that feat. While he admits it will be a tough road to get there, he will put in the work and do whatever it takes to begin the climb into the top level of American Motorsports.

As the 2021 ARCA Menards season approaches, Lacarre is still searching for sponsors who want to join him on his journey. If you have any interest in sponsoring one of the few French race car drivers with an outstanding personality, then Charles Lacarre is the guy for you. Lacarre will arrive from France and live in Spartanburg, S.C beginning the first week of January and leave approximately a month later. If you want to follow Charles Lacarre’s journey in the ARCA Menards Series in 2021 and everything going on with him personally, you can do so on his Facebook page: Charles Lacarre- The Conqwest. He plans on providing the fans with plenty of content and updates right from the pits to the drivers’ seat.
