4 Celebration, Potluck and Session Meeting, June 11, 2017 Submitted by Janet Borel, Pastor Kerri’s Graduation – June 4 Clerk of Session The June Session meeting covered the following topics: Requests from Building and Grounds for funding for repairs. B&G has been busy evaluating various repairs and improve- ments for the church facilities that they feel are needed. They recommended to the Finance Committee the following: 1. Re-paving the upper parking lot and adding parking lines and one way direc- tion arrows around the parking circle. 2. A new compressor for the sanctuary air conditioner is needed. 3. The heating system at the manse needs to be converted from propane to natural gas. 4. Several pews in the sanctuary need re- pair, the pews in the choir area will be used elsewhere, and new chairs are needed for the choir, which will make seating arrangements in the choir area more flexible.

5. New signage is recommended for the entire building, to have a consistent look and be up to code. The Finance Committee approved these expenditures, which will come from the Johnston Fund grant for 2017. Session has the final say about expenditures, and voted to approve all of these projects. Personnel search for a new bookkeeper/ secretary to replace Katherine Cheek who retired May 31. A search committee is set up and many applications have come in. Volunteers are helping with the office work in the meantime, and a company has been contracted to do the bookkeeping. Membership. Session voted to remove Carolyn and Paul James from active mem- bership, at their request, since they have moved away. Chuck Lockhart requested to be changed to the inactive roll, which was also approved. There is usually no Session meeting in July, unless something comes up, so the next Session meeting will be August 13. Be look- ing for results of all the plans for building improvements to start this summer! 5 New Hope Presbyterian Church July 2017 Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday 1
