How to reach TIFR

From Chhatrapati Shivaji International (T2) and Domestic (T1) airport • 50-120 minutes by taxi (Rs. 800 to 1000/=). The route via Sealink is faster and less congested, but you will have to pay a toll of about Rs 70/= • Pre-paid taxis are the recommended way of reaching TIFR from 's airports. There are counters for pre-paid taxis before you exit the arrival hall. Specify the taxi (A/C and non-A/C) and your destination as "Navy Nagar, ". They mainly accept cash. You will be given two receipts for your payment, one for you and one for the driver. Retain these till the end of your ride; then hand the driver’s copy to him/her. At the exit from the airport, the police may want to look at this slip. • For Ola/Uber taxis there are designated places for the pick up, and these are marked. For Terminal T2, they are in the parking lot at a level above the arrival Hall. In T1 these are on the road just outside the exit.

From Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) railway station • 20-50 mins by taxi (Costs about Rs. 100/=). • Taxis are available from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). They charge by meter. Alternatively, one can board buses to Navy Nagar (bus terminal) from outside the local railway station at CSMT. TIFR is on the same road as the Navy Nagar bus terminus, which is where you should get off.

From Mumbai Central (MMCT) railway station • 40-60 mins by taxi (Costs about Rs. 150-200/=). • Taxis are available from the ranks outside the railway station. Alternatively, you could cross over to the local railway station and board a bound local. You have to buy a separate ticket for the local train. Taxis are available from outside Churchgate. Alternately, a bus (route 137) comes from Churchgate to the Navy Nagar bus terminus, down the road from TIFR. +

From Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) railway station • 50-90 mins by taxi. • Taxis are available from the ranks outside the railway station. Alternatively, you could walk over to the local railway station Tilak Nagar and board a CSMT bound local. You have to buy a separate ticket for the local train. Taxis are available from outside CSMT. Alternately, one can board BEST buses from CSMT to the Navy Nagar bus terminus, down the road from TIFR.
